Middle name for Elowen

My friend is expecting and has chosen the name Elowen but is stuck in middle names. I like Elowen Rose but I think it may have been done to death. I said I would ask.

i would describe my friends as quite nature oriented people.

How do you pronounce Elowen?

How long is their surname? I agree Elowen Rose is really pretty. The reason Rose and James are such popular middle names is that they are nice and they do go with everything else.

If their surname is short then how about Catherine? Or Sarah?

If longer then you want a short middle name. Anne? Ruby? Lucy?

Some posters are spelling it Elowyn which I think has a different pronunciation

I'd report to your friend that so far half the posters have misspelt the name, and a quarter have asked how are they saying it.

Rose has been done to death along with May and Grace. It’s every girl’s middle name.

I think it needs something longer like Elizabeth or similar.

Fun fact! In Welsh, Elowyn would be “male”, Elowen “female” variant so depends on the sex of baby I’m guessing it’s a girl x

@SkaneTos , it happens, and it's best to be aware of these things before registering the name, so you did OP a favour.

PP is right about the 'wyn' being masculine in Welsh, but Elowen isn't a Welsh name. Cornish is a close relative of Welsh.

Indeed it is Cornish! I was going by the PPs posting Elowyn, we do hear both names here in Wales, I guess as our Welsh equivalents!

Lovely name. Perhaps there are some Cornish middle options too?

I believe the Cornish pronunciation is EH-LOWEN. But I have friends who use the pronunciation ELO-WEN.

*I'm not Cornish but I've lived here for many years.

I still think Rose is lovely when you say the entire name, as it's a middle name, it won't be used very much.

Elowen Rose is gorgeous. Rose is chosen often for good reason.
