Which do you prefer?

Calla, because Willa has obvious nicknames.

I knew a gorgeous little Willa in the US but here I think it is just too close to willy. Overall I would prefer it of the two but depends what you think about the association.

Calla is lovely and elegant though.

Calla means shut up in Spanish. (Pronounced "K-eye-a")

My best mate is extremely Yorkshire and Willa is how she would pronounce a certain male body part.

Neither is great. Willa is the least pleasant of the two.

Willa makes me think of the American author Willa Cather, who wrote "My Ántonia" (1918).

Agree with this - I like both names, imo they are short, sweet and pretty, and Willa reminds me of Willa Cather.

You could decide based on potential nicknames. Being only 2 syllable they might not get shortened but similar Willow and Callie sometimes do - so does hearing Will or Cal appeal more?

Willa the witch and Calla (Cala) Homes are the first things that come to my mind. They don’t sound like names for a girl/woman and I think Willa is especially ugly.

I’m going to agree with the PP who suggested Callie or Willow. Both lovely.
