Max is my favourite

Hungrybrood · 31/08/2025 15:47

I think with your older boys names, Max goes best, but it's also my favourite of the 3.

BoleynMemories13 · 31/08/2025 17:07

Max goes the best. I like Joseph (but much prefer Joe to Joey). I wouldn't choose another J name though.

I dislike Rafe and think it's a very different style to your other children's names.

wafflesmgee · 31/08/2025 17:10

Trigger warning

Max or Joseph. I dislike Rafe as it’s like a ghost-rafe and too similar to the word rape

Hollyluna · 31/08/2025 17:12

If Tommy is Thomas, Joseph (Joey) is of the same era.

muddyford · 31/08/2025 17:17

Our class budgerigar was called Joey.

Emanwenym · 31/08/2025 17:25

My favourite is Max, but it sounds a bit too much like Jack.
Rafe - I don't like it
Joseph - fine. Joe is better than Joey, but Tom is better than Tommy (my taste not yours?).

I'd pick Max.

mummysmagicmedicine · 31/08/2025 18:12

Joseph with Joey as a nickname is sweet and less common than you’d think!
Rafe I do love but I’ve met one who pronounces it as Raff-ee and one who pronounces it as Ray-f which when I child says it sounds like a horrible crime beginning with R!
Max is nice too but I prefer Joseph/Joey and think it goes nicer with your kids names x

Startthecar · 31/08/2025 19:18

So your children are Thomas (Tommy) John ( Jack)?
I think Joseph (Joe, Joey) goes really well with the other names.
I like Joseph and I like Max I don't think Rafe is similar at all to your other DS'S names.
The name Max has become quite common now too.

Annie202 · 31/08/2025 19:28

Not Joey. It’s slang for a condom. At least where I was brought up.

crappycrapcrap · 31/08/2025 19:28

Max goes well and is a lovely name
I have a soft spot for Joseph

A ghost is a wraith.

mathanxiety · 31/08/2025 19:32

Definitely Joseph, and Joey is very cute as a nn.

clarrylove · 31/08/2025 19:34

I have a Joseph. He was called JoJo when he was little, which morphed into Joe as he got older. He doesn't like Joey.

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/08/2025 19:37

Surely the name posh people pronounce Rafe is spelled Ralph.

I've never heard this.

Readyforslippers · 31/08/2025 19:39

Love Joseph, really dislike Joey, I think Joe is lovely though. Jack is also fabulous.

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/08/2025 20:35

I love Max! Joseph nn Joey is a favourite of mine too. Rafe is ok but not for me.

Ketzele · 31/08/2025 21:57

Joseph (Joe) was my first choice for a boy (but I had girls, and don't like their names nearly as much as I like Joe).

Alexandrine · 31/08/2025 22:30

Max works nicely with your other kids names. Rafe is too trendy imo and while I like Joseph I think it’s nice if each of the boys have different initials.

pamshortsbrokenbothherlegs · 01/09/2025 07:51

I like Rafe best (I have one so am biased) but imo Max works best with your other boys.

I like Joseph best too, but out of interest, how do you pronounce Rafe is not either Rayf or Raffee?

Calliopespa · 01/09/2025 10:14

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/08/2025 19:37

Surely the name posh people pronounce Rafe is spelled Ralph.

So many threads on this and yes, Rafe is a newer spelling that sounds the same as Ralph.

It's a name I'd avoid for all the confusion round spelling, pronunciation etc. Even if the OP is clear in her mind, others will constantly get it wrong/consider it wrong etc etc.

pizzaHeart · 01/09/2025 10:16

Max.
