Meriel?

Anyone have any thoughts for this name for a little girl?

We are Scottish and think it sounds pretty. I like Meredith too.

I have not heard of one but my Dad knows a Meriel in our home town.

I like it. I had an (ancient) Great Aunt Meriel who was great, and I know another in her 30s who goes by Mel.

I prefer Merryn, though.

Meriel's ok. I don't like Merryn. Meredith is horrible.

Our cat is called Miriel, after queen Miriel in LOTR Rings of Power.

I love Merryn and Meriel. I have good friends named each.

Meriel is very pretty, I prefer it to Meredith. The Meriel I know has Merry for her nickname.

@samsonthekitten , no. It's a non-Welsh name that works in Welsh in that it doesn't sound different.

Meredith is an anglicised Welsh name. In Welsh it's a boy's name and usually spelt Meredydd. It doesn't sound the same as Meredith.
