Sibling for Camilla

Francescarae · 30/08/2025 12:47

We have a daughter called Camilla
my Name is Italian too, we are not Italian but do like Italian names, Camilla is nicknamed Millie and everyone calls her “Millie”

we like the name Lottie but need a full name for it and aren’t overly keen on Charlotte, I have come across the name Carlotta which is Italian and we could use “Lottie” as a nickname but I’m wondering if it’s too different and if Charlotte would be better thinking of using the middle name Rosa

i think Millie & Lottie work really well together

I like Carlotta! And it avoids her becoming Charlie in secondary school - Carly is much nicer (if she does want a change from Lottie 😁)

LivingOnTheVeg · 30/08/2025 12:52

Charlotte usually (not always) gets shortened to Charlie, so, Camilla and Charles Grin

I think Carlotta is lovely and I think it fits with Camilla, but if you may have a third I’d be wondering if there’s a third name that fits with those two as they’re so close, if you get me? It’s almost like a twin set of names.

Yes I’m not keen on Charlie for a girl, would everyone assume she’s Chsrlotte though and she will have to correct them

There are Lotties who are just Lottie on the bc nowadays too, so I think the days of assuming Lottie is always Charlotte are over - people will have to check what her full name is occasionally but I don’t think it would be a big problem. No more than Milly being short for Camilla rather than Amelia / Emily.

That’s true about Camilla and Charlie, I’m not keen on Charlie at all

Camilla & Carlotta
Millie & Lottie

That’s true as most people say usually Millie is short for Amelia but I a think it’s more fitting for Camilla

Carlotta is lovely

Lottie is sweet, as is Lotta

Camilla and Carlotta is a great pair

greglet · 30/08/2025 13:33

Carlotta is a lovely name and goes well with Camilla (which I also really like).

I think Charlotte is more often Lottie these days, if it gets a nickname at all. Charlie for a girl is quite 90s - perhaps it went out of fashion because it's now so popular for boys

I do know a Charlotte nn Chattie (and she is..)

Oh interesting - I’ve come across a few young Charlottes who are still Charlies, although mostly spelled Charley tbf so maybe that’s how they’re feminising it like you say.

AntiHop · 30/08/2025 14:14

Sylvia?

Oneplainwrap · 30/08/2025 14:16

I love Carlotta. Alternatively, what about Aletta, nickname Lettie, for something a little bit different?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 30/08/2025 19:20

I would go with either Lottie (love the name) or Carlotta to shorten to Lottie.

I love the name Lottie but am not keen on Charlotte so think you’ve found a good alternative. I also really like Lotte

Camilla and Charlotte sounds smart together.
I like the difference in first letter sound.
Millie and Lottie or Lotta go well.
Enid Blyton's Mr Gallianos Circus comes to mind!

Charlotte Rosa is nicer that Carlotta Rosa.

The Charlottes I know are called Charlotte, Lottie, Lotta or Char. I've never met a Charlie but I don't know any Charlottes under four years of age.

Carlotta is sweet too. I prefer it as Carlotta Rose

boathouserocks · 31/08/2025 22:00

How about Camilla and Margherita.
Millie and Rita.

Ikeameatballs · 31/08/2025 22:04

Love Carlotta!

RuthW · 31/08/2025 22:09

Carlotta is lovely and much nicer than Charlotte.

dontcomeatme · 31/08/2025 22:12

Carlotta is gorgeous but you can't have Carlotta Rosa, the two names ending in A sound weird x
Love Lottie as a NN

timoteigirl · 01/09/2025 07:35

Carlotta is a name in Sweden too. What about Alessia? Sienna? Florence?

We have decided we would use the middle name Grace instead as I completely agree
