Would anyone mind giving me their preference between Clara and Eliza. Both are possibilities for our daughter as well as a couple of others. I’m unsure which I prefer though. Thanks

It has a different vibe, @Calliopespa . Cara seems warmer.
i don't like the Cl sound.

Is Clara a nn for Clarissa?

I think it's a name in itself - or at least has been for many, many years.

It has quite a history for literary characters: Clara in Heidi, in the Nutcracker and in Virginia Woolf.

It comes from the Latin for "bright" (though I think Clarissa does too?), whereas I believe Cara comes from the Gaelic ( names like Ciara) and Cara is a more modern spelling in English.

I think Clara is really elegant.

I like Clara but I know a few babies/toddlers either the name so depends whether that’s a concern for you.
