Middle name John after my Gramps who raised me.

So:

Henry or Luca.

They are both good names, but very different! (In my opinion).

I voted for Henry.

plumcrumbling · 14/08/2025 22:45

Oh I was hoping it would be Billy and Willy.

NuffSaidSam · 14/08/2025 22:46

Tilly and Henry

Tilly and Luca

They're both nice. But I'd go for Henry. I think it's more classic/timeless. Luca is really having a moment which probably means it will date.

CarrieMoonbeams · 14/08/2025 22:46

I like Henry better, it's a strong and classic name.

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/08/2025 22:48

Henry goes really well with Tilly.

Luca is faddy and will not date well. Henry has been in use for centuries.

I actually think Luca goes much better with Tilly than Henry (assuming she is just Tilly, not Matilda nn Tilly). Henry sounds too formal next to Tilly. Luca has a more modern vibe, which suits Tilly better (imo).

Both lovely names but I agree with this. Henry and Tilly feel like very different styles of name to me. Not that that really matters but I wanted my two’s names to complement iykwim.

Not sure why some think Luca is just trendy and will age/be of a certain time either - I know a few from babies to adults and have taught some over the years. But it still sounds fresh and cool to me!

Unless of course you are Italian or of Italian descent.

Emanwenym · 16/08/2025 17:29

@TerminalMoraine , but it's just the same as Luke to Italians. I wouldn't say Luke was faddy.
Luca the film came out in 2021.

I don't think that the 1000s of baby boys called Luca all have Italian heritage.

Emanwenym · 16/08/2025 17:36

@Fi642 , because a name becomes too popular then falls out of fashion
Have you taught a Richard or Paul?
Neil was popular in my age group, and I knew much older ones, but I've not heard of a baby Neil recently.

Arlanymor · 16/08/2025 17:37

Henry - because then there are two syllables with 'y' endings and 'ee' sounds.

Edited

Yes, I understand how certain names definitely age - my own correctly puts me as an eighties baby. But as I said before, I know a baby Luca and an adult one and some in between having taught a few over the years. That’s why I’m not sure how Luca specifically will be “of its time.”

PS Not sure if you watch but isn’t the baby on Gavin and Stacey Neil the baby? 😂 Tbf, he’s not such a baby anymore.

Emanwenym · 16/08/2025 18:28

You might be right about Gavin & Stacey. I didn't watch it, but 'Baby Neil' rings a bell.

With Luca, Lucas is also very popular, so they'll be around a while, then get dropped.

Skybluepinky · 16/08/2025 18:40

Lots of Luca’s from when the boarders opened and when they had babies they called the boys Luca or Arlo. Henry is a better option.

Hedjwitch · 16/08/2025 18:58

Luca is very popular,like Noah.
Henry John is a lovely name.

Overwhelmedandunderfed · 16/08/2025 18:58

Henry John

elm26 · 18/08/2025 00:23

Thanks everyone, we are pretty settled with Henry now ☺️
