Louis or Oliver?

Third son due in November and we've pretty much narrowed it down to two choices. Boys 1 and 2 are a Jacob and a Francis/Frank.

Both great names...I prefer Louis. But I think Oliver goes better with your other sons' names.

Both would go. I prefer Louis but Oliver is perfectly nice too. In your situation I'd wait until he's born and see which one suits him best.

This is exactly our feeling, as a standalone we prefer Louis but Oliver sounds better with the older two!

I've been put off Louis by posts on here insisting that it's pronounced Lewis, and that it should be spelt Louie.

(I don't agree with such posts.)

Oliver for me - it’s been popular again for about 50 years now so feels more classic imo. Despite being the name of Kings, Louis seems to rise and fall more in fashion (plus I’m less keen on the nn Lou).

Louis - a gorgeous name. Every other boy around here is Oliver and it’s put me off the name completely.

Me too. Plus Oliver is very common near to me. My great nephew has three Oliver's in his class alone.

There must be tens of thousands of Olivers out there already… is your surname quite common?
