Please help! Our 3rd baby boy is a week old tomorrow and we still can't decide on a name! We have narrowed it down to;

Huxley nn Huck, Hux, Huckley, Hucky Bear
Forest nn Fox, Rusty, Frosty

Siblings are Orbyn and Archer Last name W
Please be nice 😅

Neither. How about Hunter?

Blueberry911 · 10/08/2025 06:24

I also vote neither. Also the nicknames for Forest don't make sense.

Dearover · 10/08/2025 06:25

Congratulations!

I'm not sure what any of those names have to do with Forest. Gump is the name which immediately springs to mind.

As for Huxley, have you been using it around the baby this week? Does it sound as though you are talking about a real, live small person or a dog?

Finally, will he go to the sort of school where names like Forest and Huxley will fit right in or will he be surrounded by more conventional names for your area? How do you think they will feel about being called Huxley or Forest when they are in their 40s?

nellietheellie75 · 10/08/2025 06:29

Forest, is the best but not great. I like the suggestion of Hunter by a pp.

PinkFlloyd · 10/08/2025 06:29

Neither. Why not call him Fox or Rowen I have a DNs with those names? I think they're more in line with their siblings.
Where did Orbyn come from?

toiletpiper · 10/08/2025 06:31

I prefer Forest but don't understand the nick names, why not just say Forest?

JamDisaster · 10/08/2025 06:33

Run, Forest, run!

We run kids clubs and have had two different huxley’s already this summer so it’s obviously becoming more popular. We’ve also had numerous Bear’s, several fox’s and a wolf. So outdoors names are clearly ‘in’. I personally don’t like any of them - neither Huxley nor Forest (especially not forest) and don’t think they are nice names to saddle kids with.

PamIsAVolleyballChamp · 10/08/2025 06:37

Neither- first thoughts are Huxley= Pig and Forest= Gump...
Where are the names from?

SilenceNotGolden · 10/08/2025 06:55

I don’t like either. Forest is marginally better, most kids won’t automatically think “Gump” although hat might pick up a nn Gumpy at some stage. Frosty is ludicrous.

Do you have anything else short listed!

If you like Huxley how about Aldous?

Doveyouknow · 10/08/2025 07:05

Huxley is fine - the one I know has the nn Hux. Prefer it to forest and it has a more natural nickname.

JollyGreenSnake · 10/08/2025 08:22

Don't like either. Your child has to live with this name!

ifyoulikealotofchocolateonyour · 10/08/2025 08:33

Hucky Bear?? Frosty?!

user2848502016 · 10/08/2025 08:56

Forest nn Fox if you really need a nn, definitely not Frosty!!

You could actually just call him Fox though if you like that.

Don like Huxley - but Hunter is maybe better than both of them?

cramptramp · 10/08/2025 08:58

Neither.

wafflesmgee · 10/08/2025 09:01

Neither
sorry
huxley sounds like a place name for somewhere I’d never want to go or reminds me of buxom as in letcherous old uncle talking about your boobs
and forest…so many tree and wood jokes. It’s not a name.

wafflesmgee · 10/08/2025 09:02

Maddox?

BunnyLover7 · 10/08/2025 09:04

Neither

AcrobaticCardigan · 10/08/2025 09:06

Huxley Pig immediately comes to mind. (It was a kids tv show!)

UnderCoverB0ss · 10/08/2025 09:07

My BIL dog is called Huxley and my son’s dog is called Forest. I think they’re great names.

NeverOneBiscuit · 10/08/2025 09:09

Neither.

He’ll spend his life saying no, that’s my name, not my surname.

They also smack of trying too hard to be different when it comes to a name.

softlyfallsthesnow · 10/08/2025 09:11

Both are surnames.
There are millions of actual first names to choose from.

Newgirls · 10/08/2025 09:12

Huxley is great! Hux for short

Soontobe60 · 10/08/2025 09:12

Sorry, but I’m with the majority - they sound very pretentious and could set up the baby for a lifetime of teasing.
