It's my grandmother's name, and lovely too, not sure she spelt it like that though.

seeker · 29/05/2008 08:46

You'll get a big no from all Enid Blyton readers!

berolina · 29/05/2008 08:48

oh yes, Malory Towers' Gwendoline Mary

I think I would spell it Gwendolyn. The name is quite nice but not wild about it. Wouldn't make me raise an eyebrow, though.

Cecy · 29/05/2008 08:48

Well, the root name is Gwendolen but that's a bit too Welsh for me. Plus I always liked the Malory Towers Gwendoline spelling.

Not the actual character though

Gwendoline Mary Lacey. Sorry.

smartiejake · 29/05/2008 08:55

NOOOO! Call her Sally, Mary Lou or Darryl- much nicer names!

seeker · 29/05/2008 08:59

Pedant alert - Darrell.

(but don't do that - bizarre name for a girl!)

SmugColditz · 29/05/2008 09:00

Reminds me of Windolene.

HereComeTheGirls · 29/05/2008 09:06

i'm afraid I think of Wallace's girlfriend, from Wallace and Gromit!

MrsBadger · 29/05/2008 09:09

Penelope is better

findtheriver · 29/05/2008 10:37

Wendolene.
Pass the wensleydale.

Hulababy · 29/05/2008 10:39

Not a fan, sorrry.

bozza · 29/05/2008 10:40

Definitely reminds me of Gwendoline Mary Lacy but I think that is perhaps because most Gwendolines in RL are shortened to Gwen, so you would have to be OK with Gwen too, I would say.

I think it is a nice name but too long in practice so Gwen it would probably be, and Gwen is nice too.
