Hey fellow mumsnetters! I’ve got DD Charity and second on the way, due end of August. 2nd is another girl and DH and I love Honor? Love to hear your thoughts! Surname Littlejohn.

My niece is Honor and it's a lovely name. Go for it

LucasBuck · 04/08/2025 22:37

Honor works really well, although the obvious sibset names for Charity are Faith or Hope 😀

TheSandgroper · 05/08/2025 07:39

Prudence?
There was a Blessing at our school.
Blithe/Blythe.

And I do like Honor. Could also be Honora which leads into Hannah.

All of these and feel the same about Charity and Honor.

I think you cannot go wrong with Grace.

Faith and Charity or Joy and Charity is bit too twee.

Honor is up there with Charity as a terrible name to sadle someone with. It's not awful particularly in the context of Charity as their sibling.

MinnieCauldwell · 05/08/2025 08:39

Chastity

tillythefunlober · 05/08/2025 09:15

Honour is beautiful.
I agree with other PP about faith, hope, grace, liberty, felicity

Honor is beautiful but with your surname it sounds like "on her little John"...which might raise eyebrows (particularly at potty training age!)

ChocolateCinderToffee · 05/08/2025 13:00

Constance

lilaclemon · 05/08/2025 18:41

The three graces are Faith, Hope and Charity. All beautiful names.
My aunt was Grace Constance which IMO is a beautiful name.

Ball?

GraciePig123 · 06/08/2025 08:30

Thank you for all the responses! This has given us a lot to think about.

I love the suggestions of Liberty, Destiny, Trinity and Felicity, but am worried they sound too similar to Charity?

Middle names are/gonna be Grace, Hope, Faith, Joy. Thanks for the suggestions though!

lol I have granddaughters named Faith, Hope, Felicity and Verity.

I love Liberty but with sisters named Charity and Liberty (or Grace or Verity etc.) I would think of Quakers or Quaker ancestry.

Constanza/Constance/Constancy or Fidelia

miniaturepixieonacid · 08/08/2025 01:30

I quite like Honor but think it's perhaps a bit much as a pair wih Charity (although they will only be seen as a pair when they are children so it probably doesn't matter that much). Also, Honor Littlejohn sounds like a command sentence - 'honour little John'.

I'v never beeen sure if Honor counts as a virtue name or not because of the spelling or whether it has a different origin. But, even if it's not, it sounds so much like one that I'd avoid it. Whereas Felicity and Verity, despite being undoubtedly virtue names, seem better fits for Charity just because we don't tend to use those two names as abstract nouns in everyday conversation so they remain as purely names not both names and virtues.

Names that I think go with Charity without being themed/matchy:
Anne, Alice, Anastasia, Bronte, Daphne, Diana, Evangeline, Edith, Florence, Frances, Giselle, Gloria, Harriet, Iris, Josephine, Juliet, Jemima, Katherine, Kate, Lillian, Lucia, Larissa, Lydia, Martha, Marina, Nadine, Nadia, Pearl, Ruth, Rosemary, Sylvia, Stella, Theresa, Tamara, Ursula, Vivianne, Violet, Yolanda

@GraciePig123 Chastity immediately sprang to mind. Honestly I think it'd be perfect, I love unusual girl names.

Consider also Venetia and Sibylla.
