Could I persuade you to put George or Georgina on the birth certificate rather than Georgie? I wouldn’t fancy being an adult Georgie of either sex.

Meanwhile, middle names…

  • family members or friends you would like to honour?
  • favourite actors/musicians/sportspeople etc?
  • a virtue you admire?
  • a favourite plant or flower?
  • a place that has meaning to you?

Georgie Luke
Georgie Oliver
Georgie Robert
Georgie Alexander

Georgie Niamh
Georgie Victoria
Georgie Caroline
Georgie Hannah

just some ideas but I’ve suggested names with a different amount of syllables so you can get an idea of how the name flows.
Personally I prefer a 1 or 3/4 syllable name after a 2 syllable first name but that’s just me!

Have a look back into your family tree - sometimes a name from an older family member may inspire you.

They don’t have to have a middle name. I never see the point of them.

JillyGiraffe · 29/07/2025 18:57

Georgina is such a beautiful name! Could use Georgie, Gigi or just G as nicknames..?

JillyGiraffe · 29/07/2025 19:00

Can’t use a middle name starting with E, H or O due to initials.

HugoYorway · 29/07/2025 19:45

Agree with George or Georgina on the BC.
Middle names: Not May/Mae, Rae/Ray, Jay, Kay or Fay.

NuffSaidSam · 29/07/2025 19:49

I'd go for something meaningful to you, otherwise it's just a bit pointless.

What was your second choice name for a girl/boy? You could use that.

Is there a family name you could use?

Your middle name for a girl and DP's name for a boy (or vice versa depending on the names!)?

Firsttimebabymummy · 29/07/2025 20:23

Georgina Alexandra
George Alexander

I think if you are definitely going to use trendy unisex Georgie as a first name (rather than more classic George or Georgia and then just call them “Georgie” as many would), then personally I think you should give them a more timeless masculine or feminine middle name to balance it out. It then makes their sex clearer when people see the full name written down, as well a giving them a choice of a more classic name to go by if they don’t like Georgie.

Georgie William
Georgie Edward
Georgie Thomas
Georgie James
Georgie Daniel
Georgie Joseph

Georgie Elizabeth
Georgie Anna
Georgie Alice
Georgie Eleanor
Georgie Isabel
Georgie Charlotte

ETA: I missed your surname is Day but I don’t think GED, GAD or GID are really much of an issue with the middle name initials. DC’s name will look like the Aussie greeting anyway “G’ Day” - but yes, you might want to avoid Oliver or Olivia for a middle, as GOD might be a bit much!

Hadalifeonce · 29/07/2025 20:46

None of DH's family have middle names at all. If you can't think of one, just don't bother. Much less hassle.
