Phoebe and Eliza are gorgeous. There are a lot of Eliza’s round us atm so I’d choose Phoebe.

Ophelia is a bit frilly and trendy for me.

Agree!

You've listed them in my order of preference.

Sofiatheworst · 20/07/2025 20:57

Phoebe is nice but will inevitably be ‘pheebs’ by most. Ophelia is lovely in theory but I’m not sure I’d want to be called it. Eliza is perfect and would have been on my list if I didn’t have a relative called this. In my opinion it is strong but feminine (which is always my personal preference for girls names)

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 20/07/2025 20:58

I love Ophelia and only know one - she’s Fifi as a nickname.

101Alsatians · 20/07/2025 21:01

All beautiful names!
Phoebe
Ophelia
Eliza

Would be my order ^

BoleynMemories13 · 20/07/2025 21:33

Eliza is my favourite but Phoebe is nice too.

Ophelia is really not a nice sound.

I love Phoebe!
Not so keen on Eliza, but love Elizabeth
Really dislike Ophelia

BootballJoy · 20/07/2025 21:37

Phoebe 100%. Beautiful name.

I really dislike the sound of Eliza, one of my least favourite names.

Ophelia is ok but I find people pronounce it Orphelia sometimes which i don't like.

girlmum6 · 20/07/2025 21:50

Thank you all. Phoebe is my favourite of the three followed by Eliza so glad others seem most popular.

Eliza

ophelia second!

Enko · 20/07/2025 22:11

I have a 28 year old Phoebe she has never been Pheeps to anyone so no its not inevitable.

I like all 3 names but obviously Phoebe is my favourite.

TeddysMother · 20/07/2025 22:16

Ophelia - when I first read it I wasn't sure but I actually like how unique it is whilst remaining beautifully old and Greek.

It reminds me of Hamlet - a tragic story but stunning name that connotes femininity.

Also "Fifi" as a nickname is absolutely adorable

I do also like Eliza, though I imagine they will end up nicknamed "Eli" or "Ellie"

And Phoebe I feel I very popular, both in pop couture ( I instantly think of Friends ) and generally. As a "Chloe" I'd have loved to have had a more unique name

ChocolateGanache · 20/07/2025 22:46

Love Ophelia and Eliza
Not so keen on Phoebe - it just makes me think of Friends 😂

LucasBuck · 20/07/2025 22:56

Adore Ophelia - so elegant sounding. I know it’s trendy now, but in some ways that increase in popularity’s a good thing as it makes it less likely people will automatically think/mention Hamlet now when they hear the name.

Less keen on the sounds of Phoebe and Eliza (though I do love Elizabeth) - Phoebe has too much “ee” in so short a name for me and the “lie” sound in Eliza isn’t pleasant imo.

LurkThenPost · 20/07/2025 22:57

Eliza
Ophelia
Phoebe

Eliza is lovely!

Mistyglade · 20/07/2025 23:04

Eliza

TempsPerdu · 20/07/2025 23:54

Can’t go wrong with either Phoebe or Eliza but I can’t warm to Ophelia at all and find it much too frilly and faddy. I suspect it will date much more than the other two.

While both are lovely, at a push I think I’d choose Eliza over Phoebe as to me it has a more elegant sound and ages a little better.

wafflesmgee · 21/07/2025 00:05

Love Phoebe
dislike Eliza
in the middle on Ophelia

Cluborange666 · 21/07/2025 00:06

I like Ophelia but I feel that it’d be bad luck to call my child that (Hamlet). I prefer Eliza to Phoebe.

Bengenderson · 21/07/2025 00:17

Eliza and Phoebe are beautiful

Im not keen on Ophelia. I remember watching one of the 20 kids and counting episodes with the radford family and one of the toddlers is called Ophelia but always pronounced like ‘aw-feel-ya’

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/07/2025 20:54

I love Ophelia

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/07/2025 20:55

You might also like Elspeth that's my current fave

LivingTheDreamish · 22/07/2025 05:59

Love Phoebe. Phoebe Eliza? I wouldn't worry about the Friends connection.

willsandnoodle · 22/07/2025 06:23

We have an Ophelia at nursery and the amount of practitioners who can’t say it right, I don’t think I’d use the name.

we also have a Phoebe, and that’s super cute on a little one. Pheebs.

Eliza is beautiful - never met one in person
