Two names starting with Z for a boy and a girl?

We have a boy called Zach, we are expecting a girl soon. My partner and I are having trouble picking names for a girl we’re both very fussy.
he really likes very few, one of the names he prefers the most is Zara. I said it might be cringe with the two z’s he said that it wasn’t even planned about the z’s he just seen the name and actually really liked it.
so it would be Zach and Zara. I do love the name too. Just worried it’s to similar to Zach? If we go on to have a third, that baby definitely won’t have a name with Z. It’s not meant to be a family theme at all. We just like the name and it looks planned but it isn’t. Would it be strange down the line having Zach, Zara and a child with a completely different name and letter then?
whar do you think? I’m torn because I really like it too. I worry it will be judged and seen as intentional or cringe to others.

I think it's actually pretty common to have siblings with same initials. I think as a pp has said with z being an unusual less used letter it might make it stand out more but I don't think it's a bad thing. It's quite nice!

The thing to remember as well is that how often do you have to introduce your kids as a set. How often will they introduce themselves or be known as a set throughout their lives? Not that often in the grand scheme of things. So I think you just need to choose two names you love regardless of how they sound together.

Zillah - it's a girl's name

Lardychops · 20/07/2025 23:35

My DSGD is called Zella

mumandmumber · 20/07/2025 23:40

I think same initial can be ok but with ‘Z’ its more of a statement than say, ‘A’.
So yes I think you could look cringe, if it matters to you.
How about other similar names to Zara.. Clara, Sara, Lara…

Isitreallysohard · 20/07/2025 23:42

It's a bit cringe, but also cute. Do it 😊 I like Zara, Zoe and Zayden

NuffSaidSam · 20/07/2025 23:43

I really like Zara.

It's cringey when people give all their children matchy names, but I think you can get away with two.

I think Zayden a step too far…

AuntMarch · 20/07/2025 23:47

Do you like Sara? (to rhyme with Zara, not the same as Sarah)

I think it looks nicer!

Zebedee Zain Ziggy

Zehra Zelda Zabrina

I think it's fine, and zara is a lovely name.

I think it sets up for unnecessary confusion in schools or letters addressed to Z.Smith.

Zamilla

I have a Ryan and a Roman. I love their names starting withe same letter and sounding a like. Only issue I have is now youngest is a toddler he often gets called by his brothers name. Sometimes I think I should have given him a completely different name 😫.

Neverplayleapfrogwithmrpipes · 21/07/2025 05:44

I like Zilpha for a girl pronounced Zil-fa

LittleCosette · 21/07/2025 05:49

Zosia

Zachary and Zara are both lovely names and sound different enought to be siblings.

One would be Miss Z, the other Master Z so not confusing.
Also fine for number three to start with another letter.

ThePussy · 21/07/2025 06:15

Zamfira. DH vetoed as DD1’s middle name. He also vetoed Ruxandra as DD2’s.

itsgettingweird · 21/07/2025 06:24

It’s fine.

So would a 3rd with different initials.

for example

Zach, Zara and Oscar. Or

Zach, Zara and Matilda.

ignore the 3rd names as they aren’t suggestions to go with Z names just an illustration that a 3rd with different initials isn’t as horrendous or odd as you seem to think.

tooloololoo · 21/07/2025 06:24

Zane and Zaira

TheSandgroper · 21/07/2025 06:33

I have met a Zenobia but I did also think of Xanthe (pron Zanthee) so that would get you over the spelling/admin difficulty.

ZoomingSusan · 21/07/2025 08:23

If you really love Zara then go for it but otherwise a name with a different initial will be easier.
