Theo?

I have heard people(of late)referring to it as a scally/chav/downmarket name. What are your honest thoughts? Do you think it's posh?

It's OK.

Where I live though he'd get called Feo

cadelaide · 26/05/2008 21:31

I love it.

Wanted it for DS, DP said no.

Van Gogh's brother was Theo.

("So what?", I hear you chorus)

katiekkrruunncchh · 26/05/2008 21:32

I like it, great name.

Sallypoo · 26/05/2008 21:38

I think it a classic. I really like it. Nice to have a name that can't be shorterned too.

MargaretMountford · 26/05/2008 21:39

ooer - I can shorten it to Thee

cadelaide · 26/05/2008 22:23

I think if we had decided on it for DS I'd have ended up calling him "The O", or something equally stupid.

That's just me though.

ButterflyMcQueen · 26/05/2008 22:26

yes its posh

should always be Theodore

becoming popular but still v different amongst 11 year olds

biased - moi?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/05/2008 22:28

I like it. We had Tudor (Theodor) as the main contender for DS, only changed it the week before he was born (he's Dominic).

ButterflyMcQueen · 26/05/2008 22:29

cristina!!

excellent choice though - we used it for middle

Pinkchampagne · 26/05/2008 22:35

I like it. I work in a primary school & we have no children called Theo.

cheesesarnie · 26/05/2008 22:36

love theo

expatinscotland · 26/05/2008 22:36

I like Theo.

ItsPotatoesForYouMyLad · 26/05/2008 22:37

there's a theo is ds's class (4yo). i think of it as slightly posh and getting popular whithout being chavvy. on the whole, i like it.

KaSo · 26/05/2008 22:38

It's a nice name but I hate shortenings being used as names...sorry! If it's Theodore, shortened to Theo then it's ok, but I'd not put Theo on a birth certificate any more than I'd put Bob or Tom.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/05/2008 22:46

ButterflyMcQueen - just had a loook at your sons' photos. They are all v handsome. Good choice of names

jasper · 26/05/2008 23:03

love it.
Can be shortened to Ted which I like even more

MargaretMountford · 27/05/2008 08:30

It's a name in it's own right though

MargaretMountford · 27/05/2008 08:51

hey butterfly - think I commented on good looking sons on the dcs admiration thread !! is your 11 yr old a Theo too ? must be a name for handsome boys

MargaretMountford · 27/05/2008 08:51

on your handsome children I meant, wasn't bragging about mine...

belgo · 27/05/2008 08:53

I like the name Theo. Not chavvy at all.

Amandella · 27/05/2008 09:33

Heifer · 27/05/2008 09:34
