Franklin or Sebastian

To be known as Seb. Franklin we personally would not shorten but I know we cannot control nicknames outside of the family

I prefer Seb, DH prefers Franklin

Sebastian/Seb any day of the week.

polarsystem · 29/06/2025 10:49

I like Franklin.

Buzzer3555 · 29/06/2025 10:50

Franklin is more unusual. I like it

FanofLeaves · 29/06/2025 10:51

I’ve got a Sebastian so I’m biased. I think it’s a lovely name. Franklyn sounds like a make of biscuit. I’m not sure why it makes me think that though 🤣

loobyloo1979 · 29/06/2025 10:52

Sebastian I love

stopringingme · 29/06/2025 11:04

Sebastian out of those two names.

Franklin would be shortened to Frank or Frankie which I would not like.

BoleynMemories13 · 29/06/2025 11:12

I much prefer Sebastian. I'm not too keen on the full name, personally, but Seb is very cool. Franklin is quite dull in comparison and I think Frank or Frankie would be inevitable.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 29/06/2025 12:05

I'm not keen on either of them. Frank is OK but Franklin is not.

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/06/2025 13:18

Sebastian/ Seb is one of the best boys names there is imo.

Fifthtimelucky · 29/06/2025 14:44

Definitely Sebastian. It’s one of my favourite boys names. My husband vetoed it, but we didn’t have boys anyway, so I didn’t have to fight for it!

naomicrobiome · 29/06/2025 16:06

I like both names but much prefer the nickname Frank over Seb. As both names are likely to be shortened, my vote goes to Franklin.

Douane · 29/06/2025 16:44

The first thing I did, was say the nicknames Seb versus Frank, or even worse, Frankie.
I would choose Sebastian over Franklin because of the inevitable name shortening.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 29/06/2025 17:55

Sebastian

Frank is having a big moment right now, so he may be one of many

whatisforteamum · 29/06/2025 18:13

Sebastian.
It's my beautiful cats name .

user2848502016 · 29/06/2025 18:21

I prefer Sebastian/Seb

AllPlayedOut · 29/06/2025 18:35

Sebastian. Franklin is so unattractive imo.

AnneMarieW · 29/06/2025 22:56

Neither are exactly my cup of tea but of the two I prefer the sound of Sebastian (less so the sound of Seb personally but I think it’s inevitable as I know a few toddler Sebastian’s all known as Seb).

DramaAlpaca · 29/06/2025 22:59

Sebastian by a country mile.

Sandmaennchen · 29/06/2025 23:11

Neither! Sebastian will inevitably end up as Seb/Sebby (too close to sebaceous!) and Franklin sounds like a surname

Hazelmaybe · 30/06/2025 13:49

Sebastian

Pemba · 30/06/2025 16:10

I think Franklin is far too surname-like plus I don't like the 'Frank-' sound anyway. And it's very common at the moment.

Sebastian is an attractive, classic but relatively rare name, the worst you could say about it is that it used to be thought of as a bit wussy. But that's gone now, I think. As well as Seb it can also be shortened to Bastian I believe that's what they do in Germany. Hmm maybe Seb is better in English.

AdaColeman · 30/06/2025 16:19

Sebastian by a very long way!

HarryVanderspeigle · 30/06/2025 16:20

I like Sebastian, but not Seb. Franklin is interesting, but not Frank. If you can avoid shortening then both are great. I am no help!

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 30/06/2025 16:25

Not keen on either.

Frank is ok.

Firsttimebabymummy · 30/06/2025 16:27

Sebastian. One of my favourite boys names!
