I am Slavic and my daughters name is Nikita. I can't decide on the name for my son. I would like to bring the Slavic vibe but still have it simple to pronunce for both families... I am struggling between Roman, Maksim, Alexander, Theo, Noah and Enea... they are totally different but this is a list I came up with so far...what do you think about them? and how do they fit the sibling pair...could you give opinion on each name? thank you

I like it because it isn't widely used here, so to him it will always seem to be a special name just for him.
I like that it has a very long history, it's said to be derived from Romulus the legendary founder of Rome.
Roman is a name that will work right across Europe, not only in Slavic countries, so wherever he goes, his name will help him fit in.
There was a Grand Prince of Kyiv named Roman!
Roman feels like a strong honest name to me.

Thank you

I love the name Enea. It was on my shortlist for my son’s name

Maxim is gorgeous and works wonderfully with Nikita imo. If you are UK based then this spelling would be slightly easier (as it’s well known from the classic novel Rebecca which used to be taught in a lot of schools) but Maksim is nice too. But I do like Alexander as well - an ultra timeless, can’t-go-wrong sort of name.

Less keen on your other choices as they are all uber trendy and may date in future - well, not Enea but I think that one will be regularly misspelt and looks quite feminine too (more people will be familiar with the original Classical Aeneas but it is still a pretty rare name here).

Thanks, what other names did you have in your shortlist if I can ask… and what did you chose at the end?

I love Maksim. Spelling it Maxim would make it easier in England, but he would be called Max so you would need to like that. If you keep the spelling Maksim, he could be Mak, which is cooler and different.

Why did you choose Nikita for a girl?

Why did you choose Nikita for a girl?

Because I liked it… it was my favourite name in my country for a boy…though… but living in Germany and then Italy I thought it would be appropriate… why?

I ask because it seems a person with Slavic roots would not see names as interchangeable between genders, or unisex, as you seem to have done.

Depends on a name. For example Sasha or Vanya can be unisex.

I think. Milan works everywhere except the UK, where people will assume that's where he was conceived and pronounce it wrong. I like Dimitri from earlier. Other ideas that are fairly country neutral: Hugo, Viktor, Gregor, Julio/Julius

Maksim goes well with Nikita. What about Ilia, Arsenii, Zoltan, Medvedev, Tymofii,
