Twin babys due Dec

Hi there.
I'm due to have twin babys this December. I'm thinking of Christmas names. I don't know the genders yet.
Should I go for Christmas names or stick to non Christmas names? Any ideas for baby girl and boy names?
So far, I like Holly, Angelina and Gabriella but my family members do not Like these. I'm struggling with boy names.
Any ideas?

Noel, Gabriel

Cocktailsandcheese · 28/06/2025 06:49

I'd probably stick to non Christmas names, otherwise you could end up with it sounding a bit novelty/jokey. Holly is nice though.

Also, unless you're talking about your partner not liking the names, it really doesn't matter what your family think. I'd advise not sharing your ideas, and instead just introducing the babies when they're here.

Spies · 28/06/2025 06:49

I really wouldn't link the names to Christmas it's unnecessarily twee. I also wouldn't share names with family their opinion shouldn't be given any weight. Just choose names you and your partner like and announce them when the babies are born.

TeenToTwenties · 28/06/2025 06:52

I'd stick to general names except maybe if they arrive 24-26 December. Don't pick a name you don't really like just because of theme.

Holly, Ivy, Mary all lovely girls names.

Joseph, Noel (less keen on Noel)

Not Holly & Ivy together!
Not Mary and Joseph together!!

Seren and Nova both mean 'star' I think?Archers

“I like Holly, Angelina and Gabriella but my family members do not Like these”

OP, the only people who should have any say over your babies’ names are you and their father. Don’t tell people what you’re planning to call them, because they will have an opinion and try to change your mind. Just discuss it with your DP, and once the babies are here, tell people what their names are - they will be accepting. It will be easier once you know whether you are expecting boys, girls, or one of each. Just choose names you like!

You could use them for middle names. I love Holly, and also like:

Winter
Joy
Robin /Robyn

The only others I can think of are:

Nicholas (St Nick)
Christian
Buddy (the Elf)
Rudolph
Dasher
Dancer
Prancer etc.
(Obviously I am joking with these)

MonumentalError · 28/06/2025 07:11

Definitely don’t theme your kids. They will not appreciate it when they’re older.

Something like Eira (snow), Seren (star) and Robyn (Robin for a boy) at a push as a nod to Christmas/Winter.. maybe?

Holly (or Holly and Ivy 😂) seems a bit obviously Christmassy. The other names just look like you’ve taken Angel Gabriel and added an ending to make into a name so I’d avoid that kind of thing. e.g. bit like Mariella & Josephine could be a bit tacky.

(Also never share the name ideas with wider family. It’s harder for them to give opinions once you have named the babies. Only you and their dad need to love their names)

Caspianberg · 28/06/2025 07:12

Christian and Nicolas
Clement and Gloria
Ivy and Joy

MolkosTeenageAngst · 28/06/2025 07:13

Boys names:
Joseph
Cane
Gabriel
Robin
Noel
Nicholas

If you don’t like any of them though then just pick a name you like rather than trying to stick to a Christmas theme. Christmas names only really work if babies are born Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day (and even then they’re a bit naff), twins often arrive early so don’t agonise choosing Christmas names for babies which might arrive in November or sooner; it will be weird to have babies born weeks before Christmas called Christmasy names.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/06/2025 07:13

I found twins in my family tree christened in December called Mary and Joseph.

Nicola
Christina
Holly
Ivy
Mary
Maria
Gabriella
Stella
Celeste
Robin

Nicolas
Gabriel
Malachi
Christian

And boys names.. Frank(incense) and Jesus?

EmpressaurusKitty · 28/06/2025 07:16

Gold, Frankincense & Myrrh could work for triplets of either sex. I like Holly & Angelina.

HeCharters · 28/06/2025 08:25

Freddie and Lily

Or seren and nova as suggested earlier 😆

HeCharters · 28/06/2025 08:38

Peter and Sean? Archers

AdaColeman · 28/06/2025 09:09

Estelle Estella
Natalie
Natasha

I like Gabriella very much.

RuthW · 28/06/2025 10:51

I would give them a Christmas’ middle name

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 28/06/2025 11:24

Don’t ask your family’s opinion

Use Christmas names if you want, but only if you genuinely like them

Don’t go super twee eg Holly and Ivy as above, but if you like say, Gabriel and Marianne, or Joseph and Stella then go for it..

Estelle Estella
Natalie
Natasha

I like Gabriella very much.

I do too but every Gabriella I know is Gaby, which is horrible.

Moreteaandchocolate · 28/06/2025 13:46

Congratulations!

They might not end up being Christmas babies as twins tend to come a bit early, but I love the name Holly and would use it at any time of the year. Gabriella is lovely too. Don’t tell your family any more names until the babies are born!!

Clara
Stella
Wren

PlumpAndCircumstance · 28/06/2025 13:48

I like Holly and Gabriella and Christopher and Noel.

but I probably would use them as Christmas middle names, rather that novelty first names

user2848502016 · 28/06/2025 13:58

I wouldn’t go full on Christmas but maybe a winter/Christmas theme like…

Rosemary
Clementine
Angela
Natalia
Ember
Ivy
Star
Hope
Joy
Scarlet

Robin
Nicholas
Joseph
Noel
Gabriel

GoodVibesHere · 28/06/2025 15:23

naomicrobiome · 28/06/2025 18:17

Most of the names mentioned aren't overtly Christmasy on their own. It's the pairing. For example, Mary and Joseph is very on the nose, whilst Mary and Joy, Angelina and Christopher, Joseph and Nicholas, etc. are not.
