Opinions please. We are quite set on Felicity we think, middle name I feel needs to be single syllable?

It's lovely... it doesn't need to be single syllable, unless your surname is long. But it's lovely either way.

Comedycook · 24/06/2025 15:50

It's a gorgeous name..love it

Sthoremouse · 24/06/2025 16:14

Honestly, hate it. I think it sounds like a good name for a cat but for a child it sounds ridiculous, imagine a teacher calling the register at school of filling out formal paperwork and having to write Felicity.

Sorry op but you asked for opinion and that's mine. Of course if you love the name, use it.

Viviennemary · 24/06/2025 16:18

Don't like Felicity at all. I like Pearl. But Felicity Pearl just doesn't go.

ellieinfrance · 24/06/2025 16:23

I love Felicity - I have a Felicity Catherine who is now 17. There are a few around but not loads - think we know 2 more? Do it! She's Felicity at home and more usually Flic with school friends.

Changingplace · 24/06/2025 16:30

Love Felicity and think it’s really under used, I know one who tends to be known as Flick.

Morgenrot25 · 24/06/2025 16:36

I feel like it sounds like a brand name OP, sorry.
Felicity is fine, Pearl is fine, just not together.

Felicity Anne
Felicity May/Mae
Felicity Marie
Felicity Sarah
Felicity Ella
Felicity Mary
Felicity Kate
Felicity Rose

I'm imagining. Seems really ordinary. I am pretty sure plenty of teachers and other professionals write Felicity on all kinds of paperwork every day.

Love Felicity.

A gorgeous name! If you love it use it! I work in paeds and I’ve met a handful of Felicity’s over the years a range of ages including some mums names Felicity too and it has suited every single one of them.

RuthW · 24/06/2025 17:32

Both lovely.

GreyhoundGal1 · 24/06/2025 17:43

Love it!

NotMyRealAccount · 24/06/2025 17:44

I think Felicity Pearl is a lovely combination. I wouldn't be surprised to see Pearl coming back into fashion as a first name.

Interesting that a pp commented that it's a good name for a cat. I might have called one of my daughters Felicity, but my mum was like, "Ew, no, it's a cat's name." Maybe because she was of the generation for whom Felix the Cat was sophisticated animation.

Yeahhh.. no, it’s fine. The recipients of formal paperwork rarely bat an eyelid when you write Felicity on it, and it always fits in the space on the paper. Rarely even have to spell it out nowadays.

whatsyournickname · 24/06/2025 18:30

Love Felicity but not keen on Pearl.

Other single syllable middle names could be:

Faye
Claire
Sian
Kate
Jean
Maeve
Eve
May
Ruth

Emanwenym · 24/06/2025 18:55

Felicity is OK, but Pearl isn't. Middle names are rarely used in everyday life and I don't like filler middle names.

If you want a single syllable middle name, Ruth is seems less of a filler.
I'd go for something like your mother's or grandmother's name.

SuperGinger · 24/06/2025 19:02

Felicity is a fabulous name and it means happiness, less sure of Pearl but maybe it will suit her.

Blueberrycake12 · 24/06/2025 19:04

I love both separately (as long as you can shorten Felicity) , but together, it's too much. Too twee. Sorry

MrsSunshine2b · 24/06/2025 19:07

I think it's beautiful.

AnneMarieW · 24/06/2025 19:27

Why single syllable? How many syllables is the surname?

Felicity is really lovely but I feel single syllable middle names are a bit ubiquitous- admittedly Pearl isn’t as overused as Rose, Grace and May but Pearl, Faye and Joy do seem to be rapidly becoming the new “retro cool” middle names of choice instead.

If it must be single syllable then how about something more interesting like Blythe? Or some fun alliteration like Felicity Faith or Felicity Fern? (She could then have “Fifi” as a nickname when young - very cute imo).Or are there any family names you can use for a middle name with more meaning to her instead?

ninjahamster · 24/06/2025 19:29

It’s lovely!

SouthLondonMum22 · 24/06/2025 19:31

I have a Felicity so I love it! She is Felicity Rose. We went with a one syllable middle name because she has a hyphenated last name.

1Strawberrycat · 24/06/2025 19:31

My great god-daughter is called Felicity. Felicity Pearl is a beautiful name!

Moreteaandchocolate · 24/06/2025 21:49

I wouldn’t like to be called Felicity because it feels too long / fussy for day to day use (to me) and has no good everyday short versions (Fliss / Flick are nice pet names but I wouldn’t use them at work etc). I like Pearl as the middle name though.

Emanwenym · 24/06/2025 22:29

Flick is awful
