I’d appreciate your thoughts. We’ve a little boy named George. He is being joined by a little sister later this year and me and hubby are torn between 2 names 😂

George & Rosie

or

George & Holly

thanks so much!

I love Rosie. I'm not usually a fan of flower names but I have a soft spot for Rosie. Maybe wait until she's born to see what your gut feeling is.

marshmallowfinder · 22/06/2025 15:01

Holly. A really lovely name for a child or woman. Rosie is OK but just feels like a nickname.

Rosie! Such a beautiful name.

Holly

AndSoFinally · 22/06/2025 15:24

Both are nice

You'll have to wait till she's born and see which one suits her best

GoodVibesHere · 22/06/2025 15:32

Holly

Gagamama2 · 22/06/2025 15:34

Rosa or Rose, nn Rosie

MargaretMarigold · 22/06/2025 15:35

Rosa

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 22/06/2025 15:54

I’d have Rose on the birth certificate and call her Rosie.

BoleynMemories13 · 22/06/2025 16:45

I love the name Holly. It also feels like more of a complete name, whereas Rosie feels like a nickname to me. I would go for Rose, nn Rosie, or one of the many other Rose based names.

I still much prefer Holly though. It's very underused these days, considering nature names and names ending in y/ie are both so in.

Maxorias · 22/06/2025 16:47

Clearly if you have a George his sister MUST be Peppa.

Mmmkaay · 22/06/2025 16:49

I love a pp's suggestion of Rosa (and Rosie as a family nn)

Moveoverdarlin · 22/06/2025 16:51

I like Rosie and Holly. Pretty, classic, popular but not too popular.

JustPaintedMyRoomGreen · 22/06/2025 17:07

What about George & Rosanna (nn Rosie)

Moreteaandchocolate · 22/06/2025 17:30

Holly is one of my favourite names - love it! (& love George too). Rosie is lovely too, but there are quite a few Rose variants around at the moment so Holly feels a bit more distinct.

baggieAnn · 22/06/2025 17:56

I like Rosy spelt with a y

DuchessOfNarcissex · 22/06/2025 18:55

@Sunflower8710 , if you want Rosie, register her as Rosie.
Both names are pretty.

Sunflower8710 · 22/06/2025 22:09

Thank you so much everyone! It seems to be a good 50/50 split 😂 x

George and Rose work together so beautifully if that matters imo, as both are simple classics. You could still obviously call her “Rosie” on a day to day basis- but personally I think it would be nice to give her the more timeless name on the BC like her brother.

I don’t hate Holly or Rosie but I’ve personally never met any older than late 30’s. Whereas I know George’s and Rose’s of various ages which is always my personal preference for a name.

TheSandgroper · 23/06/2025 07:14

Rosaline/Rosaleen, Rosalind or Rosalyn.

My soft spot is for Rosaleen.

gem90xo · 23/06/2025 11:54

Holly :)

luckylavender · 23/06/2025 11:58

Rosie. I never think of Holly as a real name. And it’s prickly & associated with Christmas & carols. Rosie could be Rose or Rosemary or Rosalie with nickname Rosie.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 23/06/2025 12:13

Given the responses on here, I'd pick Holly, on the grounds that nobody has suggested a different name of which it could be a diminutive.

Rosie has been in use as a standalone first name for decades.

Catopia · 23/06/2025 16:54

Holly if it's a December/very early January baby, otherwise Rose/Rosie/Rosemary/Rosalie (I would really consider having Rosie as a nickname rather than full name).
