I’d appreciate your thoughts. We’ve a little boy named George. He is being joined by a little sister later this year and me and hubby are torn between 2 names 😂

I love Rosie. I'm not usually a fan of flower names but I have a soft spot for Rosie. Maybe wait until she's born to see what your gut feeling is.

Holly. A really lovely name for a child or woman. Rosie is OK but just feels like a nickname.

I love the name Holly. It also feels like more of a complete name, whereas Rosie feels like a nickname to me. I would go for Rose, nn Rosie, or one of the many other Rose based names.

I still much prefer Holly though. It's very underused these days, considering nature names and names ending in y/ie are both so in.

Holly is one of my favourite names - love it! (& love George too). Rosie is lovely too, but there are quite a few Rose variants around at the moment so Holly feels a bit more distinct.

George and Rose work together so beautifully if that matters imo, as both are simple classics. You could still obviously call her “Rosie” on a day to day basis- but personally I think it would be nice to give her the more timeless name on the BC like her brother.

I don’t hate Holly or Rosie but I’ve personally never met any older than late 30’s. Whereas I know George’s and Rose’s of various ages which is always my personal preference for a name.

Rosie. I never think of Holly as a real name. And it’s prickly & associated with Christmas & carols. Rosie could be Rose or Rosemary or Rosalie with nickname Rosie.

Given the responses on here, I'd pick Holly, on the grounds that nobody has suggested a different name of which it could be a diminutive.

Rosie has been in use as a standalone first name for decades.

Holly if it's a December/very early January baby, otherwise Rose/Rosie/Rosemary/Rosalie (I would really consider having Rosie as a nickname rather than full name).
