I haven’t really heard of it before the tv show Molly and Mack, is it a name on its own? I like it but don’t want to be too out there. Just thought it might make a change from Jack. Or no?

No.

MiddleAgedDread · 17/06/2025 23:12

It’s a nickname IMO

Lettuceleafy · 17/06/2025 23:12

Jack is lovely ❤️.

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 17/06/2025 23:13

It's my cat's name! I would normally associate it with a nickname rather than a christened name but if you like it go for it.

Magicmonster · 17/06/2025 23:13

You’d need a robot sidekick called Cheese

whatdoyouthink123456 · 17/06/2025 23:14

I really like it! It’s a bit different but easy to say & spell

Tooty78 · 17/06/2025 23:15

Makes me think of the big American truck.

colachive · 17/06/2025 23:16

As a surname as in “Lee”, or a first name as in “the knife”?

colachive · 17/06/2025 23:16

Honestly it sounds like you’re saying Mick in a kiwi accent

CagneyNYPD1 · 17/06/2025 23:16

I know a lovely dog called Mack.

Radionowhere · 17/06/2025 23:16

No

Pinkrosesyellowroses · 17/06/2025 23:17

Makes me think of Mack the Knife (a murderer).

RedBeech · 17/06/2025 23:19

I had a sweet student called Mack and knew a nice man at uni called Mackenzie. I also grew up with an elderly friend of my dad's who was a bit of a grandpa figure as we were estranged from my dad's family - he was lovely and called Mac so it has very good associations for me.

doodlejump1980 · 17/06/2025 23:21

Mac in Gaelic means “son of”

Defo no OP , go again I think

Eenameenadeeka · 17/06/2025 23:22

I think Jack is better

squirrelnutkins1 · 17/06/2025 23:24

I heard it at a baby group maybe 2 years ago and thought it was a cool name 😊

BreadInCaptivity · 17/06/2025 23:24

Love it. Was v nearly our DS’s name but we passed in the end as we envisioned lots of McDonalds nicknames eg McChicken etc at school.

DS has a very “standard” old school name. TBH I don’t regret our decision. I can’t think of him as anything other than the name he has now.

In the end, we simply thought that it was important for him to have a name that didn’t define him/that wouldn’t give others preconceived ideas/didn’t open the door to endless potentially negative riffs.

Basically a name that was a gift not a sentence.

JustAMum35 · 17/06/2025 23:27

I think of it as more of a nickname tbh!

I’d go either Max or Jack

Zofloramummy · 17/06/2025 23:27

My uncles chocolate Labrador was called Mack. Lovely dog.

EmiliaRuusuvuori · 17/06/2025 23:27

I like it if it's a nickname and you put Mackenzie on the birth certificate.

BethDuttonYeHaw · 17/06/2025 23:28

Awful

Rainbowqueeen · 17/06/2025 23:31

Would you consider Cormac with Mac as a NN?

Butterflyarms · 18/06/2025 00:02

....the Knife!

Doublebubblegum · 18/06/2025 00:03

Mack is a great name!
