Thoughts on Tobias?

Big sister is Arabella, half brother is Cameron.

Middle name will be Joshua or Jack and last name starts with P and is two syllables.

28 weeks and really struggling with what to call baby boy still so suggestions welcome.

I think Tobias is lovely!

FiveBeatRiffRaff · 16/06/2025 09:14

It's nice and goes well with the other names. If he ends up being "Toby" then that's lovely too.

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/06/2025 12:37

I love it! And love Toby for short 😊

Xflips · 16/06/2025 14:50

I don’t like it. It seems wet and twee

zozozoe123 · 16/06/2025 15:16

Generally seems like positive feedback so far which is unusual on here for names! Definitely a strong contender I think

Dislike it. So wet and Toby even worse

5dollah · 16/06/2025 15:41

I don't like it. I far prefer Joshua or Jack as a first name. It's very twee.

Icanttakethisanymore · 16/06/2025 15:42

I really wanted Tobias but my OH wasn't keen. I love it

AdaColeman · 16/06/2025 15:48

I love it, a super name, and I like Toby for a nn very much too.

Your middle names, Jack and Joshua, are nice, but both have been in the names top ten for years so there will be thousands of them.

Spies · 16/06/2025 15:50

It's lovely and as a teacher it's one I hardly ever come across which makes it all the lovelier.

BloodyHellBob · 16/06/2025 15:55

I have a Tobias who sometimes gets called Toby. I love the name and it definitely suits him. Although he is neither “wet” nor “twee”.

Yeah they are both family names and I like to have the middle names meaningful but wouldn’t use those as first names

Yes personally I think it sounds quite strong and masculine! Toby is cute but I can still picture an adult Toby and I like that it’s not super common but nor is it unusual

Oh thank you that’s definitely a good thing to hear!

I really like Tobias, and I've known some great Tobys (Tobies?)

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/06/2025 18:47

Like Tobias and he will likely by Toby which is even nicer.

iseethembloom · 16/06/2025 18:50

He’ll be Tobias for two minutes before becoming Toby or Tobes.

I don’t like Tobias either: it sounds Dickensian. The sound of the word ‘bias’ is very strong in it too.

ninjahamster · 16/06/2025 18:51

I like it. I know two who are adults now. One has never been shortened to Toby, the other prefers Toby.

Iamacatslave · 16/06/2025 18:58

We have a Tobias and he generally is called “Tobs” ❤️

Viviennemary · 16/06/2025 19:00

I don't like it at all.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 16/06/2025 21:31

I love it

I don’t like Toby though, which would put me off as I think it’s more likely he’ll end up Toby than not. I do know one grown up Tobias who is known by his full name.

Josiah maybe?

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2025 21:39

Love it,but I'm biased haha

He's always Tobias, never Toby so far

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/06/2025 21:40

Also we often get positive feedback on his name

Norastroud · 16/06/2025 21:48

I love the name Tobias! I know a Tobias in his 40’s who is always a Tobias, & also 3 year old who is sometimes nn Toby / Tobes.
Great name & goes well with Arabella & Cameron too.

AnneMarieW · 16/06/2025 23:41

Tobias is much nicer than just Toby I think, sounds more adult. Toby is adorable on a baby/toddler though - makes me picture the cute baby in the red striped baby grow in the film Labyrinth. I’d be tempted to bounce baby Toby up in the air while singing “Magic Dance” to him ala David Bowie 🤣
