What do you think of the name Autumn for a girl? Our eldest is Felicity Amelia ☺️

A friend of mine's daughter is called Autumn. I think it's quite pretty, but rather hard to shorten, should you want to. Do NOT call her 'Tum Tum' (my friend does and it makes me shiver).

I don’t think we would shorten it to be honest we would just call her Autumn all the time. Our oldest is Felicity and it barely ever gets shortened.

I love it but she'd have to be born in September or October.

I’m due late October ☺️

It’s ok but I’m glad it’s not my name - I’d get fed up with people asking if I was born in the Autumn or clarifying “like the season”? (But it’s not a commonly used name around me - if it’s more familiar as a name in your area it will feel different to you I guess - e.g. Summer would be fine as it’s quite popular round here).

I think it’s lovely. It might have seemed a bit far out ten or fifteen years ago, but has recently become a well established name where I live. My twelve year old DD has a pal named Autumn. Autumn is a season full of beauty. I think it works well as a name. The sound is much prettier than Summer, and seems more sophisticated to my ears.

Well, I don’t think it’s important for sibling names to work well together, but they do sound nice as a pair. It’s certainly not jarring. I met a pair of little brothers at a play group recently, Orlando and Jaden, and I was surprised the parents had chosen two names which seems so very different from each other.

Sara379 · 15/06/2025 19:22

I think Autumn is really lovely and goes well with Felicity.

BeautifulPeopleGo · 15/06/2025 21:33

I think they go really well together. Lovely names. Makes a change from all the endless Evies, Avas and Gracies.

FrankyGoesToBollywood · 15/06/2025 21:35

It’s a nice name, I would use it.

notacooldad · 15/06/2025 21:38

Blimey, I've never heard anyone who is called Autumn have it shortened to that thankfully!

PurpleChrayn · 15/06/2025 21:41

There’s one at a baby group I go to, and she’s known as “Autie” which is grotesque.

Xflips · 15/06/2025 21:42

Well we love it and we’re having a little girl so it’s our no 1 choice. Pretty sure we’ll be using it.
our little girl is due in August and honestly it doesn’t matter in my opinion when your daughter is born x

englishandelegant · 15/06/2025 21:42

I think it’s a really pretty name. My friend has a preschooler named Autumn and people have always been really positive about the name. I think it sounds fine with Felicity as well. Both pretty names with good associations (Felicity means happiness, and Autumn conjures up images of the most beautiful time of year).

Calm down 🤣

BashfulClam · 15/06/2025 21:49

I love it, it would have been my first choice if I’d had any children.

TenThousandSpoons · 15/06/2025 22:03

I like it 🍁

DuchessOfNarcissex · 16/06/2025 11:48

It doesn't have the same vibe as her sister's name. If you like it, use it, but I wouldn't.

mollyminniemo · 18/06/2025 15:34

Love it

My daughters called wynter born in May. I don't think it matters when they're born

Hazelmaybe · 21/06/2025 23:16

I know one who gets called Auty. I do like Autumn

Mydadsbirthday · 21/06/2025 23:40

Personally I dislike the 'Aut' sound. Auty and Tum Tum are awful nicknames!

I'd go for something with a more similar vibe to Felicity, what about Verity?

My daughter's friend called autumn sometimes had it shortened to Aut

NuffSaidSam · 21/06/2025 23:45

I like it.

I don't think it matters when they're born. If anything it's better if they're not born in the Autumn so it doesn't seem like you just glanced at the calendar when naming them (see also May and June as names).

I think it jars a little with Felicity because they're from quite different genres of name, but I don't think that really matters. I knew a family growing up where two kids had season names and the third a completely normal name....think Summer, Winter and Simon. It was very jarring!
