Boys name will definitely either be Isaac George or Reuben George.

girls however, we can’t agree.

he likes Freya and Florence. We both kind of like Charlotte, Phoebe and Violet but I’m not sure either of them are ‘the one’. I do love Violet however my friends daughter is Violet so not sure we can go there.

he’s vetoed all of my favourite names, I’m clinging on to Rosa, Eliza, and Annie.

suggestions please :)

Charlotte is a lovely name! I also like Rosie (over Rosa) and Eliza.
Isaac and Alice sounds lovely, but a lot of girl names seem to go well with either of your boy names!

Err have I written this post? 🤣

Loveeee your boy names and I love

Rosa (I have one)

Eliza (was our 2nd choice)

Annie (love but slightly prefer Anna with Annie as a nn)

Haha thanks! Yes, I’ve suggested Anna with nn Annie but again he doesn’t like it :( don’t think we will be able to agree on a name at all 😭 I said to him again last night (after doing Chinese gender prediction which said girl!) about Rosa and Eliza and he said he just can’t get on board. I could cry at the thought of not using my favourite names if it is a girl!

Elodie?

Gillipips · 17/06/2025 06:52

We have a Louisa Alice. And yes - she does get looby-loo at home but it really never occurred to us about shortened names when we chose it. Turns out nobody else shortens it apart from us. (But son is still Matthew to us but Matt to everyone else. Go figure!)

PennyPencils · 17/06/2025 07:20

Love your names. Most of them were on my list.
I also had

Juliette
Marianne
Flora
Penelope (Penny)
Lucille
Lucy
Dot
Maggie
Margeaux / Margot
Ameline
Emmeline
Mimi
Elizabeth
Kitty
Bertie (Alberta?) love Bertie for a girl NN but not so much the full name.

Congratulations btw

None of my girls have what I would have claimed as my "favourite " names they are now in their 20 and I love their names. I've gone off one of my then favourites but my dds name I love as I love them.

Personally I prefer your dh names you yours but thats neither here nor there. You need a name you both feel happy about.

Have you tried one of those sites where you both go through a list and say yes or no and see what you both say yes too?

Edited spelling

roshi42 · 17/06/2025 10:39

Verity?

MonumentalError · 17/06/2025 19:37

@BunMum26 what about Elizabeth. Then loads of options: Eliza, Lizzie, Betty, Beth and you can see what she suits as she grows.

tbh I think he’s mad. Eliza’s a great name.

hyggetyggedotorg · 17/06/2025 19:46

Reuben is a nice name, I personally couldn’t use Isaac because in our local accent it sounds like “I suck”.

Of your girls names I love Phoebe the most but they’re all nice. Violet I’m put off slightly by how close it is to Violent, but again that could be an accent thing.

FWIW, I liked the the name Fleur until I heard one of DHs elderly relatives say it. With the local accent it sounded like she was being sick 🤦🏻‍♀️.
