oooh I like Vincent. you can call him Vinnie, which is super cool.
Oscar is pretty popular now yes. well, it is round here anyway

Hulababy · 22/05/2008 22:05

I like the name Oscar.

FWIW I don't actually know any Oscars at all, young or all.

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2008 22:05

LOve Oscar - couldnt use it though as sister called her dog oscar whilst i was preg

SlartyBartFast · 22/05/2008 22:05

you only notice ruby is popular because you have one.. i bet...

like both your names

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2008 22:06

Like Sebastian - Seb is cool. We have gone for really traditional names here.

Tommy · 22/05/2008 22:07

we have an Oscar - doesn't seem common as far as I can gather - "unusual but nice" is what my friend's MIL said which made me LOL. There are quite a few Oskars around because of the Polish thing but Englsih Oscars are few and far between round here anyway!

Vincent is a little old fashioned I think but DS2 has one in his class

LaDiDaDi · 22/05/2008 22:08

I met a little Oscar in the park today. I think it's a reasonably popular name compared with Vincent which would be unusual around here but I think that Ruby and Oscar go together better than Ruby and Vincent.

EllenJane · 22/05/2008 22:10

I can think of at least ten little Oscars but no Vincents. How about Victor?

rusmum · 22/05/2008 22:11

Makes me think of Victor Meldrew!! LOL

Vincent is FIL name,

I dont like the name vincent or victor.

Oscar is lovely and so what if other people have called their children that too. It is very hard to have a unique name unless you make it up.

Also you have to imagine the name as the child gets older too.

We have gone for Samuel here as when he is older he can be a Sam if he wishes.

EllenJane · 22/05/2008 22:21

I agree with Awen. It is popular because it is a gorgeous name. Oscar is a great name for Ruby's brother.

AbbeyA · 22/05/2008 22:22

Sorry-dislike Oscar and hate Vincent.

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2008 22:24

If you really want an O boys name there is also Oliver and Owen which are also lovely imo

janeite · 22/05/2008 22:25

I like Vincent AND Oscar. Never met an Oscar and my grandad was the only Vincent I've ever met.
