Any ideas on names? DD is Isabella

For girls I quite like
Miranda (long time like from Antonia Forest books, but what if people shortened it to Randy)
Rose (esp as was part of my mum's middle name)
Eve

For boys I'm even more stuck
Alexander

That's about all I've come up with so far - any help a[[reciated!

I really like Eve and Alexander (Alex)

WombFor1More · 22/05/2008 22:03

Evie Rose for a girl, it's lovely

No idea for a boy I'mafraid. I'm having the same trouble!

I like all of your choices splishsplosh I went to school with a Miranda and no one ever shortened it - it just didn't seem necessary. Lovely name.

We're totally stuck for boy's names (are having a boy, of course); so far we've got Alexander, Alexei, Vincent, Edmund, Joseph...that's it How about Simon or Alistair?

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 22/05/2008 22:09

There's a Miranda in our extended family. Nobody has shortened her name, ever. In Latin it means 'she who must be admired'. To me, that's about as good as it gets.

LaDiDaDi · 22/05/2008 22:15

I like Miranda, I don't think that ~I would go for Rose or Eve with Isabella as a sister, they both sound a little plain/simple in comparison whereas Miranda sort of matches Isabella iyswim.

Other suggestions for girls:
Ianthe
Annabeth
Georgina
Francesca
Delilah
Matilda
Penelope
Stephanie
Lucinda
Lucil le
Belinda
Harriet

Boys:
Arthur
Archer
Henry
Gregory
Benedict
Cillian
Frederick
Edmund

Miranda = gorgeous; I don't envisage it being shortened to Randy, Mindy maybe. Eve is lovely too. Not so fond of Rose but as a second name for Miranda it works v well.

Alexander - v nice indeedy: perhaps a bit ordinary (esp if shortened to Alex) but inoffensive and a good "solid" sort of name. Alex Rider is v cool too!

AbbeyA · 22/05/2008 22:20

I like Miranda but wouldn't shorten to anything. I like the others as well, although I prefer Evie to Eve.

splishsplosh · 22/05/2008 22:22

This is tough!
Last time I knew she was a girl, and I knew I wanted Isabella - p wanted Natalya, but gave in quite gracefully.

This time it'll be a surprise so want to be prepared!
Simon is a nephew so no good
don't really like old fashioned boys names like Arthur / Stanley etc
Have used Charlie and Sam up on dogs
Quite like Luke, but friend's boy is called this
