Which do you prefer? We’re really struggling to decide! 😊

I like both but Benjamin at a push.

Springadorable · 02/06/2025 21:11

I also like both, but prefer Ben to Alex so that would swing it to Benjamin for me.

craigth162 · 02/06/2025 21:11

Love both. I have a Benjamin but Alexander was on list too.

MerryPortas · 02/06/2025 21:12

Alexander, as I by far prefer Xander to Benji.

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/06/2025 21:14

Both are lovely but I prefer Benjamin and haven't Mey any little Ben's lately though mu preferred nn is Benji

Alexander is lovely too but I'm.not a huge fan of Alex or Xander which are the go to nn. Love Sascha and Alec though

Pinkseashellsonthesand · 02/06/2025 21:32

Oh that was a hard decision!
If I had another DS I would have named him Benjamin, but we chose Alexander (Sasha) for our DS instead.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 02/06/2025 21:39

Too many Alexes and Xanders at the moment, so Benjamin, although I like Benedict better.

Sandy is a nice nn for Alexander though.

Or Alistair a nice variation, and much less overdone than either.

Moreteaandchocolate · 02/06/2025 21:40

Both are lovely - I went with Benjamin as I know more little Alex’s than Bens.

Offleyhoo · 02/06/2025 21:42

I think Benjamin too as Alex has, to me, a clinical sort of feel because of the X. Ben is solid.

Sherararara · 02/06/2025 21:43

First name Benjamin middle name Alexander.

AnneMarieW · 02/06/2025 21:44

Alexander for me - bit more timeless (don’t think it’s ever left the Top 100) and more international. Plus when I hear Alexander, “The Great” follows in my head. Nothing wrong with Benjamin as such though - it’s another classic name.

Though you could base it on nn preference as they are both really likely to be shortened - I’ve rarely met an older Alexander or Benjamin who goes by their full name, it’s nearly always Alex or Ben (although in theory there’s lots of other choice for Alexander in regards to diminutives).

ChocolateCinderToffee · 02/06/2025 21:45

Alexander. You can shorten it to Sacha too.

pinkdelight · 02/06/2025 22:48

They’re both good but slightly prefer Alexander. Quite like Alec too.

Firsttimebabymummy · 03/06/2025 06:17

Really like both but Alexander is my favourite boys names so obviously would choose that!

Corallie · 03/06/2025 15:10

Neither, as both Alex and Ben are quite overused around here. Unless you have an unusual surname?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/06/2025 03:23

Both are nice but like Alexander best

cheesycheesy · 04/06/2025 03:33

We have an Alex/Alexander. I really hope he doesn’t have a silly nickname like sandy or xander when he’s older but that will be up to him I guess. I think Ben is also a nice name too though

sesquipedalian · 04/06/2025 04:08

OP, they are both good names. Why don’t you wait until your baby is here, and decide which of the two would suit him better?

shoopshoopdedoo · 04/06/2025 04:15

Alexander!
Benjamin is also nice though.

MummoMa · 04/06/2025 04:19

Alexander. I like both but there are already heaps of Benjamins/Bens around, so Alexander is better to me for that reason. Both nice names though.

schnubbins · 16/06/2025 21:47

My son is called Benjamin Alexander!

mnahmnah · 16/06/2025 21:55

Do you love all versions of both? Because they may get any of them throughout their life.

Ben / Benji/ Benjamin

Alex / Lex / Xan / Xander / Alexander
