Would Emily sound out of place on a baby in 2025?

I love Emily, I think it’s a beautiful name but I’m slightly concerned about it possibly sounding dated on a baby now? I know it was at its peak in the late 90s/00s and the ons says it was number 1 in 2003 & 2004 in the UK and it’s now number 28, so certainly not uncommon but I suspect it’s probably falling down the charts due to overuse 20 years ago. My dh said he’s struggling to imagine it on a baby because most Emily’s are in their late teens and 20s now.

its a lovely classic name but I’m not sure if the popularity has time stamped it slightly. Thoughts?

No, I think Emily is pretty timeless. I know little Emily's (and ones in their teens, 20's, 30, and 40's).

I know a six year old and one year old Emily. Gorgeous, suits them both so well, it's a classic! It's got a bit of the current -y/ie name ending so it doesn't stand out as super unusual, but it's not a name you're going to find 4 of in each class. Go for it OP! ❤️

I think Emily will be one of those names that will always be absolutely fine, no matter what the age

I have an 11 year old Emily. I’ve always loved the name and had in mind if I had a girl. Which I did.

It really isn't. It's been well used for a couple of centuries and is a classic name. That doesn't make it dated.

I work in early years and we have an Emily. I liked it and it was nearly our youngest child’s name.

It's fine for a baby but there are a lot of Emilys in their 20s.

I know 2 Emily’s one 47 and one is 17 so I think is definitely timeless and beautiful.

I know many Emilys and they're all great. Two in their mid-40s, one in her mid-30s, one who's 16, one who's 5.

It’s definitely classic but I think the popularity it had 20+ years ago ruined the timeless feel of the name imo, any name that has a peak like Emily is bound to become dated classic or not. It really was everywhere in the 2000s, not just the UK it was top name in the US and Australia at the same time.

I have a 30 year Emily.
But I think it's a name that you still get now, a bit like Hannah.

Of course a name still firmly in the top 50 wouldn't sound out of place on a baby in 2025.

Emily is classic. Yes it use to be more popular, but it's still widely used. I really don't understand the problem.

Other 00s favourites such a Chloe, Ellie and Jessica are much further down the charts now than Emily, and even they wouldn't be out of place on a baby in 2025. It's hardly like you're wanting Tracy or Susan!
