Hey,

Expecting a baby boy late 2025 and looking for first and maybe middle name suggestions. UK based and have the very common surname of smith to match too!

Hoping somebody can share some names we haven’t contemplated yet! Current List contains Elliott, Myles, Harry, Jude and Toby but husband and I are yet to agree :) Thankyou!

It's a nice list. I love Jude. Also really like Elliott.

I also like:

Jago

Jacob
Ivo

Joshua

I'm really keen on J names for some reason! I'm could have a football team of J names.

I think Elliott Smith sounds very good, quite sophisticated and professional!
Harry Smith is good too; no-nonsense and direct!
Good solid name!

Myles Smith (same spelling of Myles) is a singer, currently enjoying lots of success near the top of the charts. Not a bad association by any means, and I'm sure there are plenty of other Myles Smiths about, named before his breakthrough, as Smith is such a common surname. It's probably not a name I'd choose now though, as who knows what his longevity will be. It's quite possible he may still be a famous name in 10-15 years to come, which may annoy your son with people's constant comments of 'oh, like the singer'.

I really like Elliot and Jude.

Similar style to your list:-

Flynn
Evan
Luca
Noah
Ethan

Elliott Smith is also a singer, albeit a dead one so less likely to be known when your son is older. He died tragically young in suspicious circumstances though so not a great namesake.

I would choose names no so common, to go with Smith.

Clive Smith
Cameron Smith
Alistair Smith

It's a good list, @Smithe3
Elliott - will probably get misspelt
Myles - I prefer the Miles spelling, runs into the surname (Myles Myth?)
Harry - fine but there must be 100s of Harry Smiths
Jude - doesn't sound good with the surname, and due to how popular the name is, he will probably be Jude Smith most of the time.
Toby - fine

I think Toby or Elliott

I really like your list. Elliott, Myles & Jude particularly.

Other names - Austin, Elijah, Joel, Finn, Rory, Zachary, Evan, Isaac, Nathaniel, Caleb, Max, Harrison, Tate, Jesse, Ezra

Redflamingos · 26/05/2025 15:04

Personally I’d avoid a popular first name as your surname is already so popular. How about

Caspar Smith
Quentin Smith
Reuben Smith

HugoYorway · 26/05/2025 18:19

Reuben is quite popular. I know several. Quentin is awful. Casper is nice but there's the Casper/Caspar/Kasper spellings to consider.

Fizzysticks · 26/05/2025 20:06

Zachary, Aidan, Caspian, Archer, Tobias, Torben, Saul, Jesse

HugoYorway · 26/05/2025 20:25

If you like a popular first name, could you add a strong usable middle name, @Smithe3 .

A friend added her maternal grandmother's surname as a middle name for her children.

They are something like Noah Napier Jones and Olivia Napier Jones.
