We have a really common surname boring!

I need some baby girl names. I don't know why but I love old fashioned names. Any name suggestions be great.

My son is called Theo Taylor.

I love
Elizabeth
Charlotte
Amelia
Arabella
Sofia
Rosalie (Rosa)

I peronsally wouldn’t go for Elizabeth Taylor.

how about:

Hazel
Leonora
Eleanor
Edith
Cecelia

KnickerFolder · 23/05/2025 10:38

Not Elizabeth Taylor! Although you might like her middle name, Rosemund.

Annabel, Isadora and Felicity might suit your taste.

AmateurNoun · 23/05/2025 10:43

Elizabeth Taylor is a famous actress so I would avoid that.

Similar options:
Evelyn
Elle
Eliza
Elspeth
Isobel/Isabelle
Eleanor
Alice
Catherine/Katherine
Rebecca
Anna
Emily

HugoYorway · 23/05/2025 10:45

Jennifer
Swift
Kayla
Ayla

Elizabeth's middle name was Rosemond.

Rosamund Taylor sounds nice.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 23/05/2025 10:45

That's a rather difficult list, OP.

Elizabeth Taylor sounds by far the best but it's already kind of "taken" by someone very famous!

Charlotte Taylor doesn't flow very well because you've got the TT sound.

Amelia Taylor and Arabella Taylor both sound like a bit of a mouthful with all the repeated Ls.

I do like Rosa, and would consider also Rosalind or Rosamund as alternatives to Rosalie.

Sofia is also nice.

It sounds like you're going for a classic, elegant vibe.

Some other suggestions:

Josephine Taylor
Grace Taylor
Anna/Annabel Taylor
Katherine Taylor
Marianne Taylor
Rebecca Taylor
Penelope Taylor
Evelyn Taylor
Madeleine Taylor
Zara Taylor
Vanessa Taylor
Diana Taylor

I forgot Layla!.

Elizabeth- the actress
Charlotte - sounds like Sharlatayla
Amelia - I don't like it
Arabella - too frilly, will be Bella.
Sofia- nice but so overused. I prefer Sophia spelling.
Rosalie (Rosa) - Rosa is nice. Not keen on Rosalie.

Viviennemary · 23/05/2025 11:14

I like Violet. Of your choices they are all nice but I like Rosalie best. And Rosamund is nice too.

Yes, I was going to come on and caution strongly against Jenny Taylor, funny as it is in theory!

SusanLittle76 · 23/05/2025 11:15

Elizabeth Taylor- I wouldn't, huge association
Charlotte Taylor - the Ts together don't flow. It will be glottalised and sound halting
Amelia? The meaning isn't the best
Arabella ok but it has the same final sound (may be slight variation but it's a schwa) and doesn't quite flow. Annabel much better
Same reason Sophie works better than Sophia
Rosalie works, I prefer Rosemary or Rosalind

In short, not critical but id avoid 'a' or 'er' endings and too many 't's.

Alice
Catherine
Madeleine
Caroline
Adeline
Adelaide
Isobel
