Yes it would.

We called DS2 "Bernard" when he was a bump, because it went with DS1's real name (it's his best friend in a book...) For quite a while DS1 called DS2 Bernard once he was born. We did consider it, but it would have been a bit trite with DS1's name in the end. I like it, and I love the suggestion that it could be "Barney"

beansprout · 24/05/2008 19:46

No!! Step away from the name!!!

brimfull · 24/05/2008 19:49

I like it.

Know a 3 yr old Barnaby.

Clary · 24/05/2008 22:42

oh ggirl that reminds me of my fave ever MN qute - "focus, Barnaby, focus" heard by Cod (of course) shouted on a touchline by dad of a 7yo...

Think it's the Barnaby bit that makes it tbh.

ButterflyMcQueen · 24/05/2008 22:44

two barnabys in ds reception class

Clary · 24/05/2008 22:50

sorry that quote makes me smile but it's not because of the name Barnaby per se (I think Barnaby is quite sweet, tho it's not Bernard imho), but the desperation of football-dad to get son to do well at under-7 level....

And I speak in my new incarnation of Football Mum

That I had travelled backwards in time to the 1930s without realising it

Excuse me ladies, but my nephew is called Bernard and he is 10, and copes lovely. He is the kid every one loves, the kid who is cheeky without being rude, top of the class and a whizz at sports. He is a lovely lad. Oh, and he was named after his Grandad.

Clary · 26/05/2008 00:10

oh Cod I use that quote all the time.

Sometimes in my head just to remind me...caught myself shouting Oi Ref! t'other week. This is at a training session for 6yos

pinkyp · 26/05/2008 00:19

I do like old fashioned names though.

DH has a friend called Bernie - he sent him an email and at the bottom was a note that if he tells anyone his real name is Bernard he will come and kill him - Silly Fucker did we think he was called Frank and people called him Bernie for short?????
