it's kind of sweet, and you never, ever hear it nowadays do you?

ElizabethBeresford · 20/05/2008 18:08

Yes Califrau, but you're an American!!! And even though I love you guys, your taste in names is about 8 yrs behind GB!

8 yrs ago I would have thought Bernard was a joke name for a rat, so I cannee blame you.

MadamePlatypus · 20/05/2008 18:09

What Tatties said. I love Annie Rose and Alfie as names, so why not Bernard.

seeker · 20/05/2008 18:12

I would thing of "Yes, Minister." And then I would think "Oh well, at least it's not Sequoia"

nooka · 20/05/2008 18:16

I'd think cool. And then "Not now Bernard" . I don't like Bernie as a shortening though (not sure why). Beenie would be nice!

pointydog · 20/05/2008 18:18

schnorbitz.

expatinscotland · 20/05/2008 18:18

edam · 20/05/2008 18:21

I'd think really? Bernard? Golly.

Oh well. Califrau, you dislike Bernard because you are Welsh!! Do you like it like this though Byrnyrd?

bidibidi · 20/05/2008 18:23

Unusual. Nothing wrong with unusual.

edam · 20/05/2008 18:24

Misdee, if you do go for Bernard, please promise you will NOT get a dog named Schnorbitz. Please.

lucyellensmum · 20/05/2008 18:29

TheFallenMadonna · 20/05/2008 18:37

I would think he has been named after grandad/great grandad.

vermilion · 20/05/2008 18:40

I'd think "Oh how cool" because I know a very cool guy called Bernard - he is in his sixties and he's been a fabulous person for a good chunk of my life.
We always called him Bernardo or Bernard. Never Bernie.

Blu · 20/05/2008 18:42

Would sound good as pronounced in France, though. And France is nearer than America, so he might go more often.
