Opinions from non Muslims please

As a muslim with keeping names these days I always try to get the opinions of others and how theyd pronounce especially non muslims so i get an idea for school etc. I had a beautiful baby boy snd the name we like is "Huraith" pronounced hu-ray-th, has a lovely meaning too. I've never heard of it and main thing is me and my husband love it and it suits baby. Full name would be Huraith Hasham. Ofcourse there's always a few people who have said its weird and two have said it sounds like hurray which makes you doubt yourself!! Anyones name can be butchered these days but for me as long as it isn't overly butchered or turned into something awful im not bothered . What do you think please 🥰 thankyou

Doesn't seem complicated to me - I would have pronounced it as you do. Go for it!

thepurgebegins · 22/05/2025 14:02

I didn't pronounce it right, I went Hur ray th as I added an extra ' r '
but if I actually heard it I wouldn't get it wrong again.

Lovely name.

Beautiful name, and congratulations on your baby!!! 🥰💐❤️

Andoutcomethewolves · 22/05/2025 14:06

It's a nice name and obvious how to pronounce - just as it's written!

Congrats on little Huraith 😊

Brandyb · 22/05/2025 14:09

I think it's a lovely name and also had no problems pronouncing it. Congrats!

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon I actually thought the exact same then when I asked a scholarship he said its pronounced the other way which I actually prefer. Thankyou!

I think it’s lovely but …. There’s a welsh word Hiraeth which is similar. Means homesickness/ nostalgia. If that’s not likely to be an issue for you then it’s a great name

DramaAlpaca · 22/05/2025 14:51

What a lovely name. Definitely go for it.

Yes, I assumed it would be Her-rayth. I like it!

I’ve not heard the name before but automat pronounced it exactly as you spelled it out. Congratulations on your new baby boy ❤️

Ferretedaway · 23/05/2025 18:10

Automatically not automat 🙄

MagicalMystical · 23/05/2025 18:11

It’s a lovely name OP. Congratulations

I love the name, but in a boys school he will probably get a small number linking it to 'hooray'. It's not a negative, there aren't really any jokes that can be made of it... but boys will do it with virtually every name.
