Oscar, Joseph or Casper?

Help! Really struggling with names for new baby boy…currently he is Oscar which we both love but somehow it just doesn’t feel like him?! I find myself not referring to him as Oscar… with DD her name just felt like her straight away. We have appointment to register him on Monday and feeling the pressure. Suggestions also welcome but has to be 1 or 2 syllables as we have a long last name so anything more is a mouthful!

I voted for Joseph, but I also really like Oscar. For me, it would depend on how each names sounds with the surname.

Joseph as it has a lovely nn Joe that all his mates will use and sounds great as a grown up name.

I think Joe is the world’s most boring name and that would be my worry with Joseph. Casper or Oscar get my vote.

I prefer the spelling Caspar but either way it's a great name!

I really like Oscar. I'd be OK with Oz or Ozzy as shortenings too. 😃

Casper is quite nice but I’m not too keen on Cass for short, it feels a bit feminine maybe?

Joseph is a great name but enviably becomes Joe which is a good name too.

I had this issue with second DC, I found myself referring to them as the baby instead of their name, even though I LOVE his name. I started purposely using it more around him and with others and it now feels perfect, so pleased I stuck with it!

I love Oscar & Joseph - both great names. Could you use one as a middle name?

I know so many Oscars! There are about 6 in my DCs year and my friends have 3.

This is reassuring thank you! I think I just expected that I would “know” when I saw him (as promised by lots of people) and I definitely didn’t / don’t, particularly not after a long and difficult delivery…

interesting - I obviously know it’s popular but I only know one! I think this is luck of the draw to an extent - have a friend who has an Isla who is one of two in a large primary school but then goes to a tap class with 9 girls and is one of 3! It is definitely a consideration though
