Edmund. Although I prefer Edward.

Whiteflowerscreed · 14/05/2025 07:18

Hector or Angus were on our list!!

also Digby

Roselilly36 · 14/05/2025 07:20

Neither, I don’t like either of those names if I am honest.

Droppedtheclockandbrokeit · 14/05/2025 07:23

Hector (verb) to talk to (someone) in a bullying way.
Edmund imo is preferable.

CurlewKate · 14/05/2025 07:24

Edmund.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 14/05/2025 08:07

Neither

Reddelilah · 14/05/2025 08:34

The meaning of Hector /Hectoring is awful - it means bully, dominate!

Reddelilah · 14/05/2025 08:35

And would Hector’s nickname be Heck? Oh Heck?

PurpleChrayn · 14/05/2025 08:37

Neither! Unless you’re an 18th-century noble family in Norfolk.

Spirallingdownwards · 14/05/2025 08:38

Will Edmund be an Ed or Eddie? If so yes.

BootballJoy · 14/05/2025 08:41

I really like Edmund. (Much prefer it to Edward.) Definitely prefer it to Hector.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/05/2025 08:43

Hector

MirandaBlu · 14/05/2025 08:51

I like both. Edmund may seems a little old fashioned, but I like it because it's used and understood in a lot of European languages. I've thought about Hector a bit as it's a family name. It does have sort of unpleasant connotation of heckling or bullying in English, but if you consider the root, it means "to hold firm" or "to stand fast" - not necessarily bad qualities.

If you're not happy with either of these names, though, don't use them.If you tell us the names your husband likes best and the ones you like best, perhaps people here can suggest a compromise.

BloodyHellBob · 14/05/2025 09:09

Hector. I really wanted Hector for DS but it got vetoed:(

IsThisLifeNow · 14/05/2025 09:20

I love Hector, Good strong character from the Trojan war

BeEagerEagle · 14/05/2025 02:46

Edmund, Hector reminds me of breaking bad 🛎️

Yes!

Eenameenadeeka · 14/05/2025 09:25

I really like Edmund

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 14/05/2025 09:29

Edmund is lovely.

I don't like Hector at all. Makes me think of the verb "to hector", which isn't a nice association.

AdaColeman · 14/05/2025 09:33

Edmund, by a long way.

Reddelilah · 14/05/2025 09:40

Actually I don’t like either

NorthernDancer · 14/05/2025 09:56

Loving Hector.

Edmund was all we had for DC2, having watched the Blackadder Christmas special. I would still have done it with nickname Ted or Ned, but thankfully DC2 was also DD2.

okydokethen · 14/05/2025 09:57

Hector
edmund would just be ed

Dora33 · 14/05/2025 10:00

Edmund is an awful name. Hector is ok. Definitely pick over Edmund.
