Husband and I can’t decide on second girls name - high anxiety!

Hi all,

I am past my due date and waiting for my second daughter to arrive safely. Husband and I still can’t agree on baby name for her and it’s making me really anxious as it’s at the forefront of my mind…

I like two names and am finding that none of his suggestions feel right in comparison… I’ve been spending HOURS looking over and over name lists and I keep spotting my two names and just desperately wanting one of them. I know we must both agree but I’m irrationally annoyed he won’t concede on either - pregnancy hormones, much?!

Our firstborn is Chloe Amelia Grace…

My two names are FREYA & OLIVIA

He wants PHOEBE, AMY, IMOGEN, FRANCESCA or SOPHIE.

*Please share your opinions, other ideas and help me rationalise to get to a final choice ASAP!

Few points to note:

1. I’m a project manager for work and the indecision and lack of ‘task completion’ on this is causing me anxiety - probs delaying the birth! But being told to relax about it is easier said than done (hence posting as final help here)
2. We lost a baby girl (Grace) at 22 weeks before having Chloe so my birth anxiety has always been raised in the final few weeks of pregnancy due to wanting to get our children here safely - probs adding to name whirlwind/wanting one less thing outstanding to think about before birth.
3. Middle names pre-decided for this girl as OH Gma died at Xmas so having XX Marianne XX (probably Rose as needs to be soft sounding after Marianne).. potential to negotiate one of my names as second middle name? Not sure I can renege on that yet(!)
4. OH hates floral names and place names (so no Lily/Poppy/Sienna/Paris etc)

I absolutely love the name Phoebe.

What about Heidi op? Was my first thought when I read your 1st daughters name.

They’re all pretty! I have an Olivia who was born when it was the number 1 name for girls. I didn’t realise! She is now in her 20s and rarely comes across another one! So I’d say to choose a name regardless of how popular it is.

Freya and Sophie are my favourites. I think Sophie pairs lovely with Chloe though!

I think these are the combinations that don't work!

I think Marianne is lovely and doesn't need special treatment to soften it.

You and your husband are definitely ij the same stable name-wise. They're all nice.

It's good that you're recognising what you're making this mean. Go easy on yourself, and him.

Phoebe or Francesca

I like Chloe and Freya.

with Chloe I also like:
Hannah, Lara and Natasha

They're all lovely names. Sophie would go best with your chosen middle names imo

I think Chloe & Freya sound lovely together for sisters.

Freya Marianne Rose is beautiful.

Both 2 syllables but with very different sounds. Although I love Phoebe, Sophie & Imogen I think the O is too similar to Chloe.

Phoebe and Sophie sound too like Chloe. People will get their names mixed up.

How about first name your choice, 2nd and third names, his choice. I love Freya Imogen Sophie

I have a Chloe and if we'd had another girl these were the names on our list:
Fern
Molly
Esme
Ella
Marissa

I think Freya and Imogen are both lovely and go well with Chloe.

Freya - great strong name, yes!
Olivia - over used and will hugely date her
Phoebe - always seems a bit wet/meh to me
Amy - dull
Imogen - another good name, goes well with Chloe
Francesca - I like it. Frankie is a cute Nn
Sophie - like Olivia, over used and now a bit dull whereas 10 years ago was lovely.

Id make final decision when you meet her.

I think of all the names Olivia goes best with Chloe.

I know a few Chloes. Their sisters are Caitlin (actually two people I was at school with have daughters named Chloe and Caitlin), Alexandra, Ella, Emily, Madison, Ruby, Scarlett.

I'd go for Phoebe.

The reason is that Chloe has a name that is not phonetically easy for an English speaker.

I had a friend with an unusual name who thought she was stupid as a 5 year old because she couldn't write her name and everyone else in her class could.

Chloe and Phoebe are both spelled in a similar way.

My favourite from your list is Olivia Marianne Rose. An alternative might be Amber Marianne Rose?

Go with Marianne as the first name it’s really pretty and much less chance of getting lots of Marianne’s In your child’s class when they go to school

Phoebe, Amy or Imogen would be my choices. Olivia and Sophie are soooo popular. Lovely names but there are just so many of them.
