Nicholas - to be shortened to Nick is our favourite baby boy name. What do people think?

Underused classic

It does seem very underused. I don’t know any under 40!

I can’t help but think of knicker-less (sorry)
How about

Alexanda (Alex)
James (Jamie/Jay
Thomas (Tom)

I like it, and have never met anyone called Nick that I didn’t like, however it does remind me of “Nicholas Girls Should Not Climb Trees”.

Springley · 06/05/2025 01:06

I always think knicker less too. It is a nice name though

coxesorangepippin · 06/05/2025 01:13

Absolutely love it, my fave name really

DramaAlpaca · 06/05/2025 01:15

Really lovely. Go for it!

Judiezones · 06/05/2025 01:29

Nicholas is lovely and Nick is very nice as the short form. Even Nicky for a very little boy is cute.

paranoiaofpufflings · 06/05/2025 02:40

I love Nicholas, one of my favourite boys names. I really like Nicky for short too.

Homebird8 · 06/05/2025 03:41

I have one who is 20 and still cheeky but also a reliable sweetheart.

Emanwenym · 07/05/2025 08:46

Plenty of them my age, but they're mostly great.
It's a classic name and quite refreshing compared with the currently trendy names. He might get called Nico though.
