Maybe Easter's parents really wanted to call her Pascale.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 19/05/2008 20:57

I love a name i first heard 6 months ago, it's really grown on me: Coral. I think it's lovely and deserves wider use.

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/05/2008 21:20

How bizarre - DH has just texted me to say he loves Coral!

To me it's a bit blue rinse old lady brigade.....or something. I will have to sit on it for a bit.

The name Coral reminds me of the 'Golden Girls' for some reason

JulesJules · 19/05/2008 21:25

There is a lovely picture book called Coral goes Swimming by Simon Puttock.

Mavornia · 19/05/2008 21:26

Wanted to add a few more suggestions:

Celandine - from the name of the flower and the Greek word for "swallow", I think this is very pretty and delicate.

Solace - I love the soft sound of this and the meaning, and although it's uncommon I don't think it's weird.

Linnea -from the name of the flower

Celeste/Celestina - just love that it means "of the sky, heavenly"

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/05/2008 21:30

Yep - it's the golden girls to me too! Oh dear - what does everyone else think??

I think Solace is gorgeous and I do adore Sol too, so that would work both ways....

I must give DH a fair hearing on his names.....

Mavornia · 19/05/2008 21:36

ooh, so pleased you liked Solace

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/05/2008 21:41

I adore it!

I know a lovely chilli
and a younger, lovely indigo

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/05/2008 21:44

DH has politely texted back to say 'that's a nice name aswell'.....At least it's not a firm reject. For every 400,000 names I come up with, he raises 2 and then gets upset when I don't fall upon them with great gusto.

Was the Golden Girls an American sitcom with 3 sisters and a very short psychiatrist friend?

Thankyouandgoodnight · 19/05/2008 21:53

I don't know, but they look like this

i'm ashamed to say I own the entire series on DVD - I bought the first series then couldn't stop myself. An internet connection, a credit card and a newborn can be a dangerous combination when you're sleep deprived...

CristinaTheAstonishing · 19/05/2008 21:59

OMG, that's them. I had a tape of them back in the late 80s when i was still in Romania. I haven't given them a thought since then.

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2008 22:01

Don't be ashamed, the golden girls is one of my fav sit coms .

CristinaTheAstonishing · 19/05/2008 22:01

OK, so they were 4 and not sisters, but it's 20 years since I gave them a thought. Still, none is called Coral, and it's still a beautiful name.

taffy101 · 19/05/2008 22:04

Portia (pronounced like the car - porsche)
Willow
Meadow

I like Delphi - thought to be greek for dolphin (was my girl name but I had a boy)

francagoestohollywood · 19/05/2008 22:04

they were: dorothy, rose, blanche and sophia. I actually like all their names.

taffy101 · 19/05/2008 22:04

Opal reminds me of golden girls - is one of them called that?

lollipopmother · 20/05/2008 12:14

Opal as in Opal Fruits?! Well at least it's a discontinued line I suppose, most people won't think of it, I must just have my mind on sweets at the moment!

Bodkin · 20/05/2008 12:18

I think Clover is pretty and very unusual, but not so unusual that people would be about it... only problem is the "low fat spread connotations" (this coming from a RL Flora.... )

PrincessPeaHead · 20/05/2008 12:18

how about a bird? Lark or Linnet or something? Probably not Thrush or Grouse though
