"Ever" is nice, but might make people think your name is really "Heather" and you're just common.

Feather is nice - think I remember an Angela Carter heroine being called Feather

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/05/2008 10:31

Damson is too much like jam, rather than too much like Tamsin.

Do you not like anything that has been suggested?

MrsBadger · 18/05/2008 11:21

Glory?

Firepile · 18/05/2008 11:40

Treacletart - the Angela Carter heroine was called Fevvers, in Nights at the Circus. And very brilliant she was too...

I always fancied Umbrella but dh wouldn't let me

ElizabethBeresford · 18/05/2008 18:24

Some lovely suggestions and some ones too.

I love Berry, Clover, Skye, Meadow, Leaf (as a mn) summer, Amber (like the sound of Ember but an ember is dying, so that meaning is bad for me0)

Melody sounds like a stuck up cow but it's a lovely name. The one I knew thought the queen was rough round the edges, but Melody is still a lovely sound with a good meaning.

Clio is a Goddess not a car, as I'm sure Lollipop Mum knows!

I love Clio! Gorgeous.

ElizabethBeresford · 18/05/2008 18:31

Joy and Hazel are two beautiful ones.

Keziah was Jemimah's sister in the bible.

Apple is awful. I don't get that one at all, but I love Posy and Tansy, although Tansy is not a fam.word.

CrushWithEyeliner · 18/05/2008 18:37

Oh these names are wonderful - really loving these names - how very Wicker man! I wish I had the nerve with DD. These are the kind of names I adore Epiphany is BEAUTIFUL!

Thankyouandgoodnight · 18/05/2008 19:43

This is great - you are all doing me proud as they say. I am coming up with a fab list of names that I like and DH has said that most of them are possibles which is amazing. Thank you and please keep em coming and all comments welcome.

By the way - any thoughts on Viola or Cello? I love Violet but DH says it's like violent....

OP posts:
ElizabethBeresford · 18/05/2008 19:47

Epiphany! I like that too. If she were born on the 6th of January you could definitely use that at least as a mn!?

Cello now sadly reminds me of Tranny and Susinner.

I love violet, but it is close to violent. That does take away something from it. also, Viola would be the spanish for he rapes. Violar a alguién would be to rape somebody and viola - he rapes. I know that's probably crazy mentioning that.

What about Laurel and Ivy and Briony? Camellia? Petunia? Silver with Silvie for short (I really like that)

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 18/05/2008 20:13

Epiphany sounds great but if you're not evangelical Christians you may find yourself constantly having to explain/justify it.

I think you're fretting too much about Violet. It may be a bit like violent but the much stronger association in most people's minds will be with a colour and a very pretty, fragrant flower. Likewise viola - few people will make the association with Spanish rapists but most will think of flowers or music. Cello is, if I may say so, daft. Anyway, shouldn't it be Violoncello Trombone Glockenspiel?
