We can’t have Lily or Olivia so thought this could be a nice alternative. Thoughts please

Yes, I like it - I know a lovely teen called Lilia and think it suits her a lot.

Snowyymum · 25/04/2025 21:21

I love it personally! Did meet a wee 3 year old Lilia in park recently.
am sure some would think it’s old fashioned but it’s what you think or rather feel - that’s most NB
As a dyslexic I struggle to spell it - but it’s actually simple enough to learn.

catnamechange · 25/04/2025 21:31

I think it’s beautiful and actually much nicer than Lily and Olivia.

mrsleb · 25/04/2025 22:24

Really pretty

Snugglemonkey · 25/04/2025 22:31

I don't know if it an accent thing, but I know a Lilia and I don't like it. Lilya is how it sounds and it sounds quite harsh for a name full of vowels.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 25/04/2025 22:33

I think it’s lovely

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/04/2025 22:36

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

friendsonly · 25/04/2025 22:41

Lovely. Way nicer than Lily or Olivia, maybe just for originality.

DramaAlpaca · 25/04/2025 22:43

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/04/2025 22:36

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

My first thought too, but I'm old. Young people won't remember that.

vincettenoir · 25/04/2025 22:44

I’ve always liked it.

Catrionablocke · 25/04/2025 22:49

HonoriaBulstrode · 25/04/2025 22:36

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

That's what it immediately brings to mind for me but I don't think they were around after the 1970s so nobody young will remember them.

TheaBrandt1 · 25/04/2025 22:52

Definitely a brand of sanitary towels. It’s ok. Very similar to Lily which is over used and boring sorry.

RosesAndHellebores · 25/04/2025 22:54

I don't know about Lilia as a brand of sanitary towel and I was born in 1960, but my first thought was on Lillets.

Jayneyy · 26/04/2025 00:00

Very pretty.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 26/04/2025 01:03

My DM used Lilia sanitary towels
I’m 60 though and most younger women wouldn’t know that
Lil-lets are though sorry
Lyla sounds nicer. Or Layla?

Annialisting · 26/04/2025 02:23

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

I thought that.

Wanttobefree2 · 26/04/2025 02:26

I like it but don’t know how to say it!

nyancatdays · 26/04/2025 02:41

I like it. I’m 48 and have never heard of the sanitary towels so I doubt her school friends will know 😆

I had no idea about the sanitary towels but I was born in the 90s. I literally have a box of lillets breast pads and I still didn’t connect the two.

Pillarsofsalt · 26/04/2025 05:58

I know a Lilleah who is very cool. Great name.

Lilian is nicer

It was a brand of sanitary towels.

Yes, my first thoughts to. I have a pet called Lilianna, which I think is nicer.

Frenchylove · 26/04/2025 10:09

Thanks for all the replies!
I did know about the sanitary towels but only cause I googled it, I’m not too worried about that being an issue as she will be way too young.
Not a fan of Lilian and I do love the name Lilah but another family member already has that name so it’s a no go for us. Open to any other suggestions please
