I like Matilda Rose! Have you considered Maud?

SkaneTos · 21/04/2025 12:58

I think they are both lovely names, and lovely name combinations!

I voted for Matilda Rose, it has a slightly better "rhythm" to it.

GoldenRosebee · 21/04/2025 13:12

I like both, but voted Mabel Violet. Matilda Rosalie would be my choice, tho.

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/04/2025 13:34

Both are lovely - Mabel is my favourite- love its vintage feel and also love that it doesn’t tend to get shortened. The Matilda’s I know are all Tilly, which is lovely on a child but I’m not so keen for an adult.

Of the two, Matilda Rose but I don't like Tilda and Tilly's a bit wet . Mabel Violet seems frumpy.

Maud is lovely.

Rainbow1235 · 21/04/2025 14:04

I love both names but I love Mabel violet more

Mossstitch · 21/04/2025 14:48

Love mabel, i do like Matilda (know one who gets called tilda) but lots of Matildas around since the film, but Mabel is so çute and a little less common.

WtafIsThat · 21/04/2025 15:29

Mabel. I don’t line Matilda, about ten years ago I though every new baby was called Matilda. Plus Rose is the most utterly boring and overused middle name there is. Apart from Grace and May. Every Matilda will be a Matilda Rose. It’s so overdone.

Love both, Matilda Violet would be lovely

I think a woman needs to be very pretty to carry off dusty old lady names like these. It's not so much the individual names - e.g. Violet is pretty in itself for any woman - but the pairings are dreary, I just think you could do a lot better. As a PP says, Rose is one of those wearily overdone middle names along with Grace and Eve and May, etc

Matilda Rose is my favourite of the two.

Do you like
Rose Matilda
Rosemary May
Mietta Mabel

Growsomeballswoman · 22/04/2025 08:34

Love both. Also Martha

Comedycook · 22/04/2025 08:36

Not keen on Mabel to be honest...I quite like old fashioned and vintage names but Mabel is a bit too frumpy and parlour maid to my mind. I think there's a lot nicer vintage type names you could go for.

Matilda is fine

DurdleSnore · 22/04/2025 14:41

I like Matilda, but not with Rose as it’s every other girl’s middle name. How about Matilda Violet?
