Both are lovely!

Theo

Louis

softlyfallsthesnow · 16/04/2025 11:08

Louis as long as it's spelled that way.
Theo's fine but the 'th' may be pronounced 'f' by some people which would put me off.
Both nice names.

Pemba · 16/04/2025 11:14

I love Louis - so long as it's pronounced 'loo-ee', not the same as Lewis.

I don't mind Theo but I feel it should be short for Theodore, and also it's had such a surge of popularity recently, for a name that used to be rare, that I predict it might feel dated in the future.

CheeseAndHamToastieAndCrisps · 16/04/2025 11:33

Theo! I don’t like Louis at all. Both are popular.

Eggsboxedandmelting · 16/04/2025 11:35

Theo..
Never can tell which way to say the other one.

Ds has Lewis as his mn. No mistakes then..

TallulahBetty · 16/04/2025 11:40

Is it Lewis or Looee?

BoleynMemories13 · 16/04/2025 11:43

Both are nice. I slightly prefer Louis as I dislike when Theo becomes Feo in some accents.

shoopshoopdedoo · 16/04/2025 11:44

Theo. I really don’t like Louis.

Nugget15 · 16/04/2025 11:59

It will be pronounced Lou-ee.
we may use the spelling Louie if we end up going for that

The spelling Louis is a lot more classic, like the little prince (not that I'm a royalist). The spelling Louie always reminds me of one of Scrooge McDuck's nephews, was it Huey, Dewey and Louie? Seems a little childish, but maybe that's just me.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 16/04/2025 12:11

I’d spell it properly.

Coffeeforayear · 16/04/2025 12:12

I think Theo could be v popular at the moment.

No don't do that, it really cheapens a lovely name.

Surely most people know Lou-ee is the correct pronunciation of this French name, since Prince Louis was named? Anyone who does call him Lew-is (which is a nice name in it's own right, but the wrong pronunciation for this name) should only need correcting once.

Amum25 · 16/04/2025 12:34

Theo

Reddelilah · 16/04/2025 13:21

I think that spelling has become the more popular one in the UK?

Louis is often mispronounced as Lou-is

Reddelilah · 16/04/2025 13:22

Sorry meant to quote the probable use of Louie spelling

In England Louis is pronounced lewee like Prince Louis.

queenofthebongo · 16/04/2025 13:38

Leo, then it’s the best of both worlds!

Moreteaandchocolate · 16/04/2025 13:39

I love both but would choose Louis as there are a zillion Theos round us.

Lionsmaine · 16/04/2025 14:26

I love Louis. Theo is a nice name too but very popular around here.

midlifeattheoasis · 16/04/2025 14:53

Louis. I have a Louis!
