Emira just sounds like Emirates to me - some sort of Arabic airline company perhaps. Not very keen on Raina either, to be honest.

I like both names.

Ener · 10/04/2025 17:06

Sounds like half of Emirates to me too. I don’t like rain so dislike Raina.

CandidExpert · 10/04/2025 17:09

I prefer Amira. Never heard of Emira. Raina reminds me of the character on Nashville.

mathanxiety · 10/04/2025 17:29

Raina is lovely. I've met a couple of Reynas with Mexican heritage.

Emira is too close to Emirates as a pp noted. Amira would be nice.

pinkdelight · 10/04/2025 17:30

Yeah I just go to Emirates too. I like Rainer for a boy, as it reminds me of the poet. Not sure about Raina. It's fine but there's not much to actively like about it. It's also a tad too close to Raita, which I like in a dip but not as a name.

Moreteaandchocolate · 10/04/2025 17:42

I prefer Amira or Raya. Prefer Emira to Raina (Raina I just think of rain, which we have too much of 😂)

Yeah they both sound vaguely Middle Eastern corporate to me. Possibly a company that makes medical appliances.

I haven’t heard emira before but do like the sound. I know an Amira and that’s pretty, I prefer it to Raina

LetTheWindBlowBackYourHair · 11/04/2025 11:38

Emira makes me think of a Dire wolf from Game of Thrones. It's ok though

Raina is unusual and lovely. I also do think of the character from Nashville, but she was a lovely character. It does sound a little old fashioned to me though. I'm imaging a glamorous woman in her 70's, I don't know why.

Interesting names.

Not keen on that spelling but I think Amira is a lovely name.

SocialEvent · 20/04/2025 07:03

Agree Amira or Meera are both pretty names.

GoatCatTaco · 20/04/2025 07:35

Both are fine.
