nice but proper spelling is Seona

schneebly · 15/05/2008 09:30

I like it - but I am biased as it is the name of one of my best friends. I like Hannah and Matilda too.

saltire · 15/05/2008 09:31

I like all of them, but only Shona with the spelling Seona.

belgo · 15/05/2008 09:32

All nice names. Shona is the most unusual.

LilRedWG · 15/05/2008 09:32

Lovely names, all three!

McDreamy · 15/05/2008 09:34

I like Shona, very nice

EffiePerine · 15/05/2008 09:36

I would spell it Seona too (Hannah also nice)

Sunflower100 · 15/05/2008 09:37

Thanks for the correct spelling - I just heard someone saying it - its even nicer like that in my humble opinion!!

I actually quite like it spelt Shona, especially if you're not in Scotland or Ireland, as people will persist in calling her 'See-ona' otherwise.

Hannah is lovely.

zazen · 15/05/2008 10:00

I like Shona / Seona - I'm in Ireland, and at school, we had a Shona: variants are Seonaid, Sinead, Seona.
Islay (Island), Mairead (pearl), Saoirse(freedom) Sorcha (sarah) Sionnan (river Shannon), Aibhann (river, pronounced Aw-han)

Hannah and Matilda are lovely also.

belgo · 15/05/2008 10:01

I've never seen Seona. I assumed Shona was an english name.

jk1 · 15/05/2008 10:24

My cousin is called Shona has just changed it to this spelling from Seonaid by deed pole as was sick of tell people how it was said.

Lovely name

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 15/05/2008 12:01

i REALLY like Shona. It is pretty and unusual and means happy in gaelic. If that's been said already, sorry.

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 15/05/2008 12:01

The 'proper' spelling in Irish gaelic IS Shona. So it's not incorrect. Maybe it is seona in Welsh??

umberella · 15/05/2008 12:09

I think it's very pretty - also know a 'Seonaid'

Nancy66 · 15/05/2008 17:36

Don't like it, makes me think of Sharon. prefer your other two choices

ButterflyMcQueen · 15/05/2008 17:40
