Feeling unsettled about name choice

Kathryn15 · 25/03/2025 23:03

My baby is 3 months old and I named her Ella Catherine. We had a few names picked out but as soon as I saw her I knew her name would be Ella. However since then I haven't felt totally sure about the name and wondering if I should have called her something else.

I also have a little boy and never once questioned the name I gave him, so not sure why I feel like this, this time.

I don't want to change her name though, but just want some input from anyone that has felt like this in the beginning but the feeling went away though time.

Well, if someone said, you can turn back time and name her something else from birth, do you have another candidate in mind?

Raininginparadise2 · 25/03/2025 23:16

I love the name Ella Catherine 😍

LasVegass · 25/03/2025 23:17

Ella is very pretty. I wasn’t sure about my first DC as we had a last minute change, but it grew on me and I can’t imagine anything else.

Ella is the best name ever. My youngest is Ella, unfortunately she passed away 4 months ago aged 21 years but she always told me she absolutely loved her name! Her best friend is Ella too.

Ella Catherine is gorgeous.
Womanly and smart.

Toddlerteaplease · 26/03/2025 06:34

Lovely name.

SuperMarioSuperMario · 26/03/2025 06:44

I love the name op. I particularly love the first name middle name combo.

Can you work out which element you aren't settled on? Is it Ella, or is it Ella Catherine? Or maybe just the slight strange feeling of having a second child at all!? (Which I understand!)

I absolutely loved my DC1's name from the day they were born and still do. DC2 was harder. I do love it, but unlike DC1 the first+middle name combo jars slightly and I don't use it, even though objectively I like both names. But years on their names are not the only thing people know about them, they are just 'themselves' with personality traits and history and their actual name is incidental.

I think it will settle x

Edit: Ooh, I've just noticed your user name. Is your first name Kathryn?

EcruCardigan · 26/03/2025 07:15

it's a pretty name, @Kathryn15 . Ella is popular, so obviously, you made a good choice, and Catherine goes very well with it.
Congratulations! 👶Flowers

How are you feeling otherwise?

(Edited because I missed out a vital piece of text.

Unlike many on here, i see no point in having a long name on the birth certificate then never using it.)

RaspberryBeretxx · 26/03/2025 07:42

Ella is beautiful and I actually know hardly any. Can you pinpoint what is unsettling you about it?

Moreteaandchocolate · 26/03/2025 15:34
