Dh and I are really stuck for names, we have a ds named Hamish (we are scottish but just liked the name). We don't know if this lo will be a boy or girl.

I love the name MIa but our surname begins with m and it sounds daft.

The only other name we have is Zara, but I don't love it.

Any suggestions welcome, thanks.

names where the first name's first letter and the surname's first letter are the same are very special! i wish i could do that for my children but there are no T names i like...

My dd is called Aila, don't know if you like that ?. I also liked Cara,Lois and Layla. If dd was a boy she would have been a Harris.

dreamymum · 13/05/2008 21:12

mia mitchell is beautiful. i find i know alot of successfull people with same inital names like Elis Elias, John Johnson, Sydney Suissa, i love all of these names. think of some famous or successfull people (not necesarily celebs) and you will find some same initial names.

dreamymum · 13/05/2008 21:16

just off the top of my head Janet Jackson, Lindsay Lohan, Lucy Liu and not celebs Woodrow Wilson, Pablo Picasso...i don't know there must be many more....

dreamymum · 13/05/2008 21:25

Great Garbo, Robert Redford, Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Bjorn Borge, Walt Whitman, James Joyce... this is getting fun....

katyjo · 13/05/2008 21:26

Fionn for a boy
freya for a girl?

Rolf · 13/05/2008 22:28

Hi Katyjo and G43 . Mia and Benjamin are both lovely names. We are still without a baby name although we are now focusing on a list of names popular in the 1870s, which seems to be our era!

Someone menioned my top 2 girls' names: Thea and Clara. I LOVE them but they don't sound good with our surname.

jamila169 · 13/05/2008 22:31

why don't you wait until the baby's born and see what he/she looks like? I had no idea when it came to naming my girls, Amy was 12 hours without a name until it came to me when i'd had a real good study of her, and Ella was nameless for 2 days (i'd decided after half a day, but DH thought it wasn't a real name[shrugs shoulders])

katyjo · 13/05/2008 22:39

Hi rolf I guess us June ladies must be lurking the baby name threads! Haven't made it back to 1870 yet, but certainly 1900 are def coming back ie eva, grace etc

I am hoping that will work jamila but worried that baby might be nameless for weeks! Mind you dh might be more open to my choices if I have just given birth to his child!

jamila I agree on seeing what baby looks like - my DS hadn't got a name for about two weeks! Then we found the perfect name for him.
