DH & I are expecting and are torn between the following boy names - Leo, Lucas, Nico and Toby. Help please!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Leo and Lucas are my top two.

I personally really don’t like Nico and Toby feels juvenile to me.

I second this, congrats OP!

Congrats OP.
Certainly Leo or Lucas 😃

I am having a baby boy too!
Exciting.
I suggested a name the other day to my DP and unfortunately it turned into a Yelling episode.

Take your time and pick a name that would be nice to utter!

Scutterbug · 19/03/2025 10:19

I like Leo and Toby.

sel2223 · 19/03/2025 11:01

I know it's popular but I just love Leo

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/03/2025 11:13

Leo

LittlePositanoLemon · 19/03/2025 11:17

Also prefer Leo and Lucas, but Lucas is my favourite.

Lucas for me overall I think of the 4 choices.

O endings are super trendy right now, there are so many Leo’s and Theo’s that I’m not sure whether they will sound dated in future (and I think Nico - cool as it is, might also have the issue of people assuming it’s really Nicholas). Toby as a standalone sounds slightly cute to me. Lovely on a kid but I’m not as sure for an adult if there’s others you like as much.

I prefer more classic names so personally I’d go for Tobias or Nicholas on the BC with the nn Toby or Nico. Otherwise Lucas.

LoudPlumDog · 19/03/2025 13:32

I like them all, depends on surname ? Any siblings ? Middle name ?

Leo slightly in front!

LeopardsANeutral · 19/03/2025 13:44

Toby is my favourite, I've always loved the name, not Tobias shortened to Toby though, just Toby as a standalone name.

VoyageVoyager · 19/03/2025 13:49

Lucas. Leo is everywhere, and Toby just reminds me perennially, of a large, well-meaning, dim-witted Labrador. Nico is the troubled Velvet Underground chanteuse.

Moreteaandchocolate · 19/03/2025 15:02

I love Toby - a handsome classic that’s modern sounding but not too trendy, dated or overused.

Leo is lovely too but getting very popular

Lucas is quite nice but I prefer Luke

I’m not too keen on Nico.

HugoYorway · 19/03/2025 15:59

Toby. Good shakespearean name.
Love Leo but it's too popular, and I dislike Theo
Lucas is ok but too close to Luca, which is faddy. Prefer Luke.
Nico seems like it should be short for something

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/03/2025 16:02

Love Toby and Nico.

KayEmAy · 19/03/2025 17:00

All lovely but Leo wins for me.

timoteigirl · 19/03/2025 22:49

Leo and Toby overused and so bland...blah, Nico okayish. The only one I like is Lucas.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 20/03/2025 08:44

My favourite is Toby, followed by Leo and and Lucas (prefer Luke). Not keen on Nico.

Ceh512 · 20/03/2025 09:24

We do like Leo but there seems to be a lot of them which sort of puts me off.

I love Leo, even though it's popular. Definitely my favourite from your list.

I like Nico as a nickname for Nicholas.

Not especially keen on Toby (posh boy or dog connotations for me) or Lucas (I think it wounds quite wet, and reminds me of mucus) - though both are fine! I like Luke.

Ceh512 · 21/03/2025 13:03

I think I agree with the comment that Leo has become a bit bland from overuse so I think we will remove that from the list, despite it being a lovely name. Probably between Lucas and Nico

Lucas with Nico second. Toby a bit too posh.
