Names to go with Rupert

we want something traditional but not popular,
names such like George/ Hugo/ Oliver/ Edward are extremely popular in our area.
When naming our son we both didn’t know or know of any Rupert’s.
My favourite is Quinn and husbands is Sebastian but we both don’t like each others front runner.
We are sorted for a girl but struggling with boys.
Also do not want another R name.
Any suggestions?

Rupert and

Quentin
Leonard
Orson

i also like your suggestion of Quinn - I know a Quentin who gets called Quinn. I’m not keen on Sebastian as don’t like Seb or Basty.

Rupert & Barnaby both have the bear theme, & a daughter would obviously have to be Winnie!

fruitbrewhaha · 18/03/2025 07:52

My first thought was Monty.

Or Perry

Thanks all
Ernest was my second choice for Rupert but husband didn’t like it
and love Wilfred too and again husband says no

Maybe I should just get a new husband, seems the easiest solution 🤣🤣

Barbaby is nice but I’m sure it’s another bear name?

Also avoid Yogi.

Barnaby the Bear's my name, never call me Jack or James,
I will sing my way to fame, Barnaby the Bear's my name.
Birds taught me to sing when they took me to their king
First I had to fly in the sky so high so high so high so high so high, so...
If you want to sing this way, think of what you want to say,
Add a tune and you will see just how easy it can be!

I know two boys called Rupert. One has a brother called Spencer, the other has a brother called Max.

some of these suggestions must be jokes surely- Horatio? Tarquin? Bartholomew? Percival? 😐

CruCru · 19/03/2025 09:15

The OP has said that she wants names that are traditional but not popular. Bartholomew is the name of one of the apostles and it is no more “out there” than Rupert.

Noideawhatiam · 19/03/2025 11:51

Lots of great suggestions here, I like Barnaby and Tristan, how about Douglas.

I was on here before and said Bear trying to be humorous… but Bertrand would be fabulous.

AnneKipankitoo · 20/03/2025 20:24

And you could call him “ Bear” as a nickname😂
