Hi All, we are expecting our first baby (girl) in July! We have two first names picked out but are struggling for middle names. The two names we have are Eleanor and Hollis. Our last name is Simmons. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

I think Eleanor Hollis actually flows really well together. Any family names or other options that you won't be using?

Other alternatives both traditional and more out there more in line with Hollis:

Eleanor Violet
Eleanor Josephine
Eleanor Beatrice
Eleanor Sage
Eleanor Juniper
Eleanor Willow
Eleanor Clover
Eleanor Hazel

I'm not so keen on Hollis and it feels harder with middle names. I would probably pair a more traditional name with it. Suggestions:

Hollis Rose
Hollis Jane
Hollis Charlotte
Hollis Matilda
Hollis Clementine

Is Hollis a typo?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 11/03/2025 20:14

No one seems to have done this yet, but how about...

Hyphen

It sounds a bit 'Greek Mythy' sort of thing, and will lead to many amusing conversations when applying for legal documents etc. 😂

DuchessOfNarcissex · 11/03/2025 20:38

Something that isn't a filler middle name especially a single syllable one like Rose/Grace/May.

Eleanor will get shortened to Ellie and the surname is very similar to a famous sportsperson's.

Hollis Simm- sounds like Holly Simm-.

Don’t have one there pointless anyway

Zippidydoodah · 11/03/2025 20:44

Hollis? I’ve never heard of that! Hollister comes to mind.

I agree that Eleanor will be shortened to Ellie, which makes Ellie Simmonds. Not a bad association by any stretch, but a famous name.

Anyway, to answer your question:

Hollis Rebecca Simmonds
Hollis Amelia

Eleanor Mary
Eleanor Lucy

I just gave the first names that popped into my head but I think they flow well!

DuchessOfNarcissex · 11/03/2025 20:56

@Zippidydoodah , that's who I was thinking of and she's fab.

@rwalker , I think they're a bit pointless too.

ThePinkPowerRangers · 11/03/2025 21:07

Anything but Grace/May/Rose. Boring, over used names that have been done to bloody death.

Is Hollis a typo?

Moreteaandchocolate · 11/03/2025 21:38

I like Eleanor. How about Holly instead of Hollis?

Eleanor Jade
Eleanor June
