Baby boy name help

Any suggestions for names similar to Theo/Hugo/Leo sound?
We are having such trouble choosing a boys name, we were so relieved we were having a girl last time because we had tons of choices but now it’s a boy and we’re struggling so much.
Our top choice for a boy last time was Theo, though my husband isn’t as keen now and our biggest concern is popularity. Our daughter’s name isn’t even on the top 100 list! Though not uncommon imo.
We have a very short & common surname so ideally a name that even shortened would be 2 syllables.
My husband suggested Hugo but I’m not as keen and I like Leo but not the long versions of it.

Leo doesn’t need a long version - go for that if you both like it?

Perhaps share your DD's name, so we can get more of an idea of what you like?

It’s a PITA having a longer name that never gets used from experience.
I would go for Leo

Does it have to be an 'O' ending name? It'd be easier to find a less common name if you look further afield. (and Hugo is v. Tory MP).

Let me guess, you don't have young kids anymore?

@RogueFemale , Hugo is currently popular for baby boys. There are no Conservative MPs called Hugo in the House of Commons.

LilyJosephine · 10/03/2025 09:37

If you want an uncommon (at the moment) O ending name then I think Ivo or Cornish Jago are the best imo (I love Nico but a lot of people would assume it’s short for Nicholas, although I have also heard it for Dominic).

But personally I’d probably skip the trendy O ending and go for a more classic name that has a strong O sound- like Owen. It might be less likely to date.

sel2223 · 11/03/2025 04:49

I know it's popular but Leo is such a great, solid name.

That was our boy pick but we're having a girl
